Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has strengthened its reputation at the pinnacle of the UK fleet sector, securing the title of Most Reliable Van Manufacturer in the 2025 Fleet News FN50 Awards for the second consecutive year. Alongside this manufacturer accolade, the brand’s New Transporter has been crowned the UK’s most reliable van, marking a seamless handover of the title from the previous sixth-generation Transporter, which led the rankings in 2024.

Announced in Milton Keynes on 5 November 2025, the Fleet News FN50 Awards remain one of the most respected barometers of reliability in the UK’s commercial vehicle arena. Surveying the 50 largest contract hire and leasing companies, the rankings reflect real-world performance where uptime, durability, and running costs directly influence fleet strategy. Within this landscape, Volkswagen’s consistent dominance underscores the brand’s deep alignment with the essential priorities of fleet operators.

A New Transporter That Redefines Dependability

At the heart of this year’s recognition is the New Transporter, which has quickly proven itself a formidable evolution of Volkswagen’s iconic workhorse. Its first-place ranking in the 2025 Most Reliable Van Survey is more than a symbolic passing of the baton from its predecessor; it signals a platform engineered with strengthened durability, refined comfort, and modernised digital capability.

Fleet operators in the FN50 highlighted the vehicle’s blend of robust, day-in, day-out performance with an increasingly sophisticated driving environment. The latest Transporter brings together Volkswagen’s long-running commitment to reliability with enhanced driver-centric design, reinforcing its position as the benchmark van for businesses that depend on uninterrupted productivity.

Caddy Continues to Impress

Reliability across the Volkswagen portfolio also stood out, with the Volkswagen Caddy securing a position among the top 10 most reliable vans of 2025. Its inclusion reflects the brand’s ability to deliver consistency across multiple segments, appealing to a broad spectrum of fleet needs—from compact urban delivery vehicles to long-distance transport solutions.

Sustained Leadership Among Van Makers

Volkswagen’s recognition as Most Reliable Van Manufacturer for a second year confirms the brand’s sustained performance across all key criteria assessed by FN50 participants. These include long-term operational reliability, ease of maintenance, residual values, and the overall confidence leasing providers place in supporting Volkswagen models for their clients.

In an industry where predictable operation translates directly into cost control and customer satisfaction, fleet operators continue to rely on the German manufacturer to keep vehicles working, earning, and serving with minimal disruption.

Celebrating Excellence in the Fleet Sector

The FN50 Awards, presented during an annual ceremony in Westminster, London, highlight the innovation and achievement across the UK’s fleet sector. As a long-standing benchmark, the awards help shape purchasing decisions, influence operational planning, and guide investment across thousands of fleet vehicles each year.

Speaking on the brand’s double win, Craig Cavanagh, National Fleet Manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, expressed the company’s pride in the recognition:
“We’re delighted to have been recognised as the most reliable van manufacturer by the FN50 Awards, in addition to the New Transporter ranking as most reliable van. The safety, comfort, and confidence of our customers is always a top priority, and we are pleased to see this dedication is seen and acknowledged by our fleet customers.”

With reliability continuing to anchor fleet decision-making, Volkswagen’s dual success signals not just a celebration of past performance but a strong indication of the role it will play in shaping the UK’s fleet landscape in the years ahead.
