The electric vehicle revolution takes another leap forward as Volkswagen’s ID.7 Pro S sets a new benchmark for efficiency, covering 941 kilometers on a single charge.
Volkswagen has demonstrated the groundbreaking potential of its ID.7 Pro S, a premium electric saloon, during a high-profile efficiency drive at the Nardò Technical Center in southern Italy. Without any technical modifications, the ID.7 Pro S exceeded its official WLTP range of up to 709 kilometers by an impressive 32.7%, achieving a remarkable 941 kilometers on a single 86-kWh battery charge. This feat underscores Volkswagen’s commitment to redefining long-distance electric mobility.
Efficiency Without Compromise
The ID.7 Pro S achieved an average consumption of just 9.2 kWh per 100 kilometers during the test. This level of efficiency is equivalent to a diesel car consuming merely one liter of fuel per 100 kilometers, showcasing the exceptional engineering behind Volkswagen’s latest electric drivetrain.
Key to this achievement is the vehicle’s advanced aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient of just 0.23, and the innovative APP550 drive system. This powerful yet economical motor, integrated into the rear axle, delivers a maximum torque of 545 Nm and enables the ID.7 Pro S to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds.
Real-World Testing at Nardò
The efficiency drive was conducted under controlled conditions at the 12.5-kilometer Low Speed Ring in Nardò. The ambient temperature ranged between 5°C and 15°C, and the vehicle maintained an average speed of 29 km/h, simulating real-world urban driving scenarios. This mirrors the typical traffic speeds observed in major European cities, from Hamburg’s 22 km/h to Amsterdam’s 31 km/h, as noted in TomTom’s latest Traffic Index.

Optimized for Everyday Long-Distance Driving
As a production model from Volkswagen’s Emden electromobility plant, the ID.7 Pro S used in the test had no technical alterations, emphasizing its real-world capabilities. Equipped with an 86-kWh net battery, the saloon achieves a WLTP consumption rate between 13.6 and 16.2 kWh/100 km. Its 200 kW DC fast-charging capability further enhances long-distance usability, enabling a 10–80% recharge in just 26 minutes and adding 244 kilometers of range in only 10 minutes.
A Growing Success Story
The ID.7 Pro S has already garnered significant acclaim among customers and industry experts. “The ID.7 is currently one of our bestsellers. The feedback from customers is very positive,” remarked Martin Sander, Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales. The ID.7’s spacious interior, cutting-edge features, and exceptional range make it an attractive choice for families, long-distance drivers, and fleet operators alike.
In Europe, the ID.7 is gaining traction as a compelling alternative to Volkswagen’s iconic Passat, particularly as the demand for electric vehicles continues to surge.
A Vision for Sustainable Mobility
The Volkswagen ID.7 Pro S exemplifies the automaker’s dedication to sustainable innovation. Its ability to achieve extraordinary efficiency in real-world conditions sets a new benchmark for electric vehicles, proving that long-distance electric driving is not only feasible but also exceptionally practical.
As Volkswagen pushes the boundaries of efficiency and range, the ID.7 Pro S stands as a testament to what’s possible in the future of sustainable mobility. With such milestones, the transition to electric driving becomes ever more appealing, ensuring a greener tomorrow for all.
