Millions of motorists are preparing to hit the road for music festivals and August Bank Holiday adventures – and Volkswagen has the perfect soundtrack lined up.
The brand has launched its Summer Drives playlist, curated with the help of fans across the UK. Drivers were invited to nominate the songs that make them turn up the volume and roll down the windows, resulting in almost three hours of Volkswagen-inspired tunes.
From festival anthems and classic rock to pop favourites and dancefloor hits, the playlist celebrates the diversity of Volkswagen drivers’ tastes. Standout tracks include California Soul, VW Van and Young At Heart – the latter made famous in a memorable Volkswagen TV advert in the 1990s. Other highlights range from timeless road trip staples such as Ride Like The Wind, In The Summertime and Ventura Highway, to more eclectic picks like Kraftwerk’s Autobahn.

The playlist is now live on Spotify under Volkswagen Summer Drives, alongside other collections such as Volkswagen Retailer Top Hits, which showcases staff favourites from across the UK network.
Volkswagen’s latest models ensure the music sounds just as good on the move as it does through headphones. Wireless smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto makes pairing effortless, while optional Harman Kardon sound systems deliver crisp, immersive audio that ensures no beat is missed.
Spanning more than five decades of music, the Summer Drives playlist is a journey in itself. From I Get Around by The Beach Boys (1964) to Imagine Dragons’ Thunder (2017), the mix reflects both nostalgia and modern energy. American rock dominates, closely followed by pop, with touches of country, blues and electronic influences. Many songs share a common thread of being both uplifting and nostalgic – the perfect match for road trips that create lasting memories.
