Gqeberha, 14 November 2025 – Volkswagen Group Africa (VWGA) celebrated a remarkable night of recognition at the 31st annual Exporters Eastern Cape Awards, taking home multiple accolades that highlight both its business excellence and community commitment.
VWGA was named Best Exporter in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) category, reinforcing its position as a global player in the automotive sector. In addition to this prestigious award, the organisation received the SJM Flex Environmental Award, the Community Chest Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Award, and a merit award in the IDC Job Creation category.
The Community Chest Award carries particular significance, as 2025 marked the first year the category was introduced. VWGA’s selection as the inaugural recipient underscores its ongoing dedication to creating meaningful impact beyond the factory floor.

“At Volkswagen Group Africa, we work incredibly hard to uphold the highest standards in everything we do, and being recognised across multiple categories shows exactly that,” said Martina Biene, VWGA Chairperson and Managing Director. “Being named the first-ever winners of the Community Chest Award is especially meaningful, as it affirms the positive community impact we strive to make beyond our plant.”
The Exporters Eastern Cape Awards have, for over forty years, provided a platform to acknowledge excellence among businesses engaged in export activities throughout the province. Participants span a broad spectrum of industries, including automotive, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and various services. The judging panel, composed of experts from diverse sectors, ensures a thorough and credible evaluation process.
VWGA’s multiple wins at this year’s ceremony reflect not only its operational and environmental achievements but also its deep commitment to social responsibility and job creation—an approach that aligns business success with community upliftment.
With these accolades, VWGA continues to demonstrate that world-class performance and meaningful local impact can go hand in hand, setting a benchmark for both industry peers and future generations of corporate citizenship.
