Johannesburg, 28 August 2025 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has broadened the Amarok line-up with the introduction of a powerful new option: a 2.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 222kW. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, this engine will be available exclusively on the PanAmericana derivative.
The Amarok PanAmericana 4Motion® arrives comprehensively equipped, featuring a 12-inch Active Info Display, a digital instrument cluster, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system with eight speakers and Bluetooth connectivity. Comfort is prioritised with 10-way electric adjustment for both driver and passenger seats. Advanced safety and assistance systems include a Multi-Collision Brake System, Rear View Camera, 360° “Area View” Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Assist, and Blind Spot Monitoring. Practicality and style are enhanced by a towing hitch, LED Matrix IQ.Headlights with high-beam control, a styling bar, power roller-shutter for the loadbox, and 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres.
Performance and Efficiency
The 2.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 452Nm of torque between 1,750 and 2,000 rpm, enabling a top speed of 180km/h and a 0–100km/h sprint in just 7.6 seconds. Coupled with the smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, the new engine balances robust performance with everyday usability.
