Kariega, 6 February 2025 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is set to redefine the large van segment with the launch of the new Crafter in the first half of 2025. Building on its reputation for reliability, flexibility, and cutting-edge technology, the latest iteration of the Crafter introduces an array of enhancements designed to elevate both driver experience and practicality.

A High-Tech Interior for the Modern Professional

One of the most defining features of the new Crafter is its upgraded digital cockpit. The vehicle now comes standard with a 10.3-inch infotainment display, integrated with Volkswagen’s latest modular infotainment matrix (MIB). This visually freestanding system boasts an improved graphical interface and a newly developed self-extensive technical update, making menu navigation more intuitive than ever.

Complementing the advanced infotainment system, the digital instrument cluster provides crucial driving data in a sleek, easy-to-read format. Enhancements extend to a redesigned electromechanical parking brake with hill-hold, a modernised gear selector switch for automatic variants, and a revamped light control panel. The interior also features newly styled air vents and an ergonomically optimized multi-function steering wheel, ensuring seamless interaction with the vehicle’s systems.

Unrivalled Versatility and Performance

The new Crafter offers an extensive selection of configurations to meet the needs of businesses across various industries. Available in three different lengths—5.9 m, 6.84 m, and 7.39 m—and with three varying roof heights—2.35 m, 2.59 m, and 2.79 m—this model provides maximum flexibility for cargo and transport solutions.

For those requiring tailored performance capabilities, the Crafter now comes with multiple drivetrain options, including:

  • Front-wheel drive
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • 4MOTION four-wheel drive
  • 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission

The vehicle’s maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) spans from 3.50 tonnes (35 LCV), 3.88 tonnes (35 MCV), to 5.00 tonnes (50 MCV), ensuring a wide variety of load-carrying options. Cargo space remains a standout feature, with a maximum volume of 17.5 m³ and a cargo space height of up to 2,096 mm.

Enhanced Driving Assistance for Safety and Convenience

  • Digital instrument cluster
  • Multi-function steering wheel
  • Keyless start
  • Electromechanical parking brake with hill-hold
  • 10.3-inch infotainment system
  • Manual air conditioning
  • Inductive charging for mobile devices
  • Acoustic Park Distance Control (front and rear)

Powerful and Efficient Engine Options

Under the hood, the new Crafter boasts an upgraded range of 2.0-litre TDI engines, offering power outputs of 103kW, 120kW, and 130kW. A new 8-speed automatic transmission is now standard on the 50 variants, while the 35 4MOTION model introduces a long-wheelbase alternative to further extend its capabilities.

A Design Inspired by the Transporter

Drawing inspiration from its ‘little brother,’ the sixth-generation Transporter, the new Crafter merges dynamic styling with unparalleled functionality. The latest design elements enhance aerodynamics while maintaining the hallmark durability and practicality Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is known for.

With its next-generation technology, extensive model range, and enhanced driver-centric features, the new Volkswagen Crafter sets a new benchmark in the commercial vehicle sector. Whether for logistics, trade, or fleet operations, this model ensures that businesses remain ahead of the curve in both performance and efficiency. Expect its arrival in the first half of 2025, ready to transform the way professionals move their world.
