Scott Speed and Tanner Foust hope to improve standings at the second annual Red Bull Global Rallycross Washington D.C. presented by Volkswagen
Herndon, VA — The Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team heads to Washington, D.C. this weekend for the seventh round of the 2015 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship. With two podium finishes at rounds 5 and 6 in Detroit, drivers Tanner Foust and Scott Speed look to keep the points momentum going in their quest for the Red Bull Global Rallycross driver’s championship.
For the second year, Volkswagen of America, Inc. is the presenting sponsor of its home Red Bull Global Rallycross event at RFK Stadium. Headquartered in nearby Herndon, VA, Volkswagen of America, Inc. will have a large presence at the race, including a display of historic Volkswagen motorsport vehicles and current vehicles with enthusiast-inspired modifications and liveries.

Tanner Foust, driver of the No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Beetle GRC, currently sits in ninth position in the driver championship. After a difficult weekend in Detroit that was marred by on-track incidents, the 2011 and 2012 series champion hopes to bounce back in Washington.
“It’s great to come back to the nation’s capital again for Global Rallycross,” said Foust. “This is where I went to high school so it brings back a lot of memories! I’m looking forward to the unusually long track and continuing to improve our already-quick cars. Scott [Speed] and I will be pushing hard to bring home a pair of podiums at Volkswagen’s home race!”
Scott Speed, driver of the No. 41 Brimtek Volkswagen Beetle GRC, moved up to fifth place in the points’ standings after a pair of second-place finishes in Detroit. Now only 80 points behind the championship leader, the three-time and reigning X Games Gold Medalist seeks to continue his charge forward this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to another race in D.C., because the event last year at RFK Stadium was amazing,” proclaimed Speed. “We’re very happy to welcome Brimtek—another local company—onboard my Volkswagen Beetle GRC, and after a really solid weekend in Detroit, we need keep the ball rolling to go one step higher on the podium.”
