Milton Keynes, 21 August 2024: Škoda has unveiled a remarkable one-off creation—the Superb Sleeper Edition, a car that perfectly embodies the brand’s commitment to blending high performance with understated elegance. This unique estate vehicle, commissioned by Škoda UK and built by the expert hands at RE Performance, celebrates the end of the third-generation Superb’s production. The vehicle has been meticulously engineered to pay homage to the model’s legacy, especially considering the recent launch of the fourth-generation Superb in June 2024.
A Powerhouse in Disguise
At the heart of the Superb Sleeper Edition is a heavily upgraded version of the standard Superb Estate’s 2.0TSI 280PS 4×4 engine. While the original was already known for its impressive performance, this special edition takes things to a whole new level. The engine has been fitted with a larger Garrett PowerMax turbocharger and an enhanced fuel system, pushing the output to a staggering 477PS and 661Nm of torque. Complementing these powertrain enhancements are a performance intercooler kit and an optimized induction intake, which together ensure that the Superb Sleeper delivers an exhilarating driving experience that’s both responsive and thrilling.

Handling the Power
Given the significant power increase, the Superb Sleeper Edition’s chassis and braking system have been extensively modified to ensure it can handle the newfound performance. The vehicle rides 50mm lower than the standard model, thanks to a KW coil-over suspension system that provides race-inspired handling. The braking system has been equally upgraded, featuring AP Racing brakes with larger grooved discs and enhanced calipers, ensuring the vehicle stops as confidently as it accelerates.
A True ‘Sleeper’ Aesthetic
In the world of performance cars, the term “sleeper” refers to a vehicle that hides its true capabilities beneath an unassuming exterior. The Superb Sleeper Edition epitomizes this concept, with its exterior remaining largely unchanged from the standard model. Finished in a regal Royal Green, a color introduced in 2023 to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III, the car exudes an air of sophistication without revealing the beast that lies beneath. The only hints at its performance potential are the slightly more aggressive stance and the larger alloy wheels.
Luxurious Interior Meets Practicality
Inside, the Superb Sleeper Edition continues to deliver the luxury and practicality for which the model is renowned. The Cognac tan perforated leather interior, complete with contrast stitching and a massage function for the driver’s seat, adds a touch of opulence. The Laurin & Klement trim level ensures that no comfort is spared, offering features such as Tri-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, and a cutting-edge Virtual Cockpit. The Columbus satellite navigation system with a 9.2” touchscreen and integrated Wi-Fi, alongside a premium CANTON sound system, keeps both the driver and passengers entertained and informed.
The Superb’s class-leading luggage capacity remains intact, offering 660 liters of space, which can be expanded to 1,950 liters with the rear seats folded down—proving that this high-performance estate is as practical as it is powerful.
Celebrating a Legacy
The Škoda Superb has been a flagship model for the brand since its launch in 2001, and the third generation has been its most successful iteration, with over 860,000 units sold. The Superb Sleeper Edition is a fitting tribute to this legacy, combining the best of Škoda’s engineering prowess with a design that harks back to the model’s roots as a versatile and unpretentious vehicle.
While this one-off creation will not be available for purchase, it will join Škoda UK’s press fleet, showcasing the brand’s dedication to innovation, performance, and the unique automotive culture that is the ‘sleeper car.’
