Three outstanding amateur golfers have secured their places on the BMW UK & Ireland team after a thrilling national final at the world-renowned Gleneagles resort in Scotland. Kealan Murray, Shaun Smith and Katrina Vickery emerged victorious, earning the honour of representing BMW UK & Ireland at the prestigious BMW Golf Cup World Final, set to take place at Fancourt, South Africa in March 2026.
Competing against 33 other talented amateurs on the legendary PGA Centenary Course from 29–30 September, the trio demonstrated exceptional skill, consistency, and composure to win their respective categories. Their success follows months of competition, as 224 golfers from across the UK and Ireland took part in four fiercely contested regional qualifying rounds held between June and September.
This year’s regional tournaments took place at a selection of iconic venues – The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield, The Duke’s at St Andrews in Fife, Carton House in County Kildare, and Hankley Common in Farnham – before the top 36 advanced to Gleneagles for the National Final. The competition was divided into three categories: Men’s A (handicaps up to 12.4), Men’s B (12.5–28.4), and Women’s (up to 28.4).

Now, Murray, Smith, and Vickery will form Team UK & Ireland as they prepare to compete against national champions from nearly 40 countries at the BMW Golf Cup World Final. Hosted at the breathtaking Fancourt resort – South Africa’s premier golf destination nestled in the heart of the Garden Route – the event offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the world’s top amateur golfers. With its trio of championship courses designed by golfing legends, Fancourt promises to deliver an unforgettable setting for the 2026 final.
Since its inception in 1982, the BMW Golf Cup has grown into the world’s largest international tournament series for amateur golfers, with more than 100,000 participants teeing off annually across the globe. Originally launched in the UK with its final hosted at The Belfry, the tournament has gone on to grace some of the most prestigious courses worldwide, including Cabo del Sol in Mexico, Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore, and the Jockey Club in Argentina.
More than just a competition, the BMW Golf Cup embodies the spirit of camaraderie, excellence, and passion that unites golfers around the world. For this year’s UK & Ireland champions, their journey from regional qualifiers to representing their nation on a global stage is a testament to the enduring appeal and prestige of BMW’s commitment to the game.
As they prepare for the challenge ahead, Murray, Smith, and Vickery will carry with them not only their clubs but the pride of an entire golfing community – ready to make their mark at the 2026 BMW Golf Cup World Final.
