Partnership with ACGL Aims to Make Competitive Gaming More Inclusive and Accessible
Sandton, 13 February 2025 – Get ready to level up, South Africa—Esports is about to receive a major boost! The Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE) is thrilled to unveil an exciting new chapter in its mission to expand the local Esports community and make it more accessible than ever before. Supported by Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), TTGE’s latest initiative promises to break down barriers and welcome aspiring gamers from all walks of life—whether or not they have access to the latest console or cutting-edge gaming equipment.
“At Toyota, we believe in the power of sports to create a sense of inclusion and sustainable communities. It is for this reason that we are stepping into the game as a major sponsor of local Esports events. Our goal is clear—we want to uplift those who do not have access to gaming equipment. This extends beyond typical support—it is about unlocking potential in gamers who may not have had the chance to experience the thrill of competitive play,” says Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at Toyota South Africa Motors.
A Dynamic Collaboration with ACGL
Toyota has teamed up with African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL), South Africa’s foremost Esports authority, to translate this vision into reality. From the bustling streets of Johannesburg to the quiet suburbs of Cape Town, TTGE and ACGL aim to ensure that gamers across the country have the chance to rise to the challenge.
Building on earlier Corporate Social Responsibility-focused tournaments in the Western Cape, the Esports wave is now expanding into Gauteng, opening doors for more players to showcase their skills. This expansion not only highlights TTGE’s commitment to broaden the competitive landscape but also underscores the shared goal of creating an inclusive Esports ecosystem in South Africa.
Expanding the Scope: From FIFA to Mobile Gaming
While FIFA remains at the heart of these tournaments, TTGE and ACGL are proud to introduce mobile gaming competitions, opening up further opportunities for participants. Whether you’re on your phone or a PlayStation, there’s a tournament waiting for you—one that’s open to everyone. This inclusive approach ensures that gamers of all backgrounds can compete, grow, and experience the excitement of Esports.
Mentorship and Elite Opportunities
It doesn’t stop there. The top-performing gamers in each tournament will receive professional mentorship and the chance to represent their communities at premier events such as Comic Con and the ACGL Gaming Championship (AGC) Tournaments. Here, South Africa’s top gaming talent squares off on a national stage, shining a light on the country’s passion and potential in Esports.
“By making Esports accessible, we are not just leveling the playing field; we are creating a space where anyone can thrive, game, and grow. The future of Esports in South Africa is bright, and we invite everyone to be part of it,” Crompton concludes.
