Toyota’s Hilux is the most popular vehicle in South Africa, leading both the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales charts and the overall sales chart. With four different body configurations (single, xtra, chassis, and double-cab), the Hilux is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of customers.
Toyota South Africa recognizes the importance of responding to customer needs and providing a product that meets the demands of the ever-changing market. To this end, Toyota has made some significant changes to the Hilux product line-up.
One of the most notable changes is to the Xtra Cab, where the Legend grade now includes Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.0. This active safety system includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS), high-speed-range Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Lane Departure Alert (LDA). The TSS operation can be adjusted through dedicated steering switches or via the Multi-Information Display (MID). The exterior mirrors also now incorporate a welcome light feature, as with Double-cab Legend models.
In addition, all double-cab Legend models have been aligned to the same specification level, including 4×2 variants, which previously omitted the JBL audio. The Legend grade now offers a power-adjustable driver seat, leather interior, Toyota Safety Sense (Pre-crash system, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control), JBL premium 9-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control, and Smart Entry System.
The Raised Body Auto transmission models (Raider and Legend) are now equipped with an Automatic Transmission Temperature warning, which reports AT operation when driving on steep terrain or carrying heavy loads.
The existing color palette remains, with buyers having a choice of seven hues on the single cab, and Xtra and Double cab models available in Platinum White. Attitude Black is reserved for double-cab duty, while Sand Beige units are available across all three body shapes in limited production numbers. Customers are advised to check with their nearest Toyota dealer regarding the availability of Sand Beige units.
