Spark Pronto fleet for Top Security

24 FEBRUARY 2014 – The Chevrolet Spark Pronto has been making waves in its segment since launch and has been noticed by fleet owners, especially in the security industry. In February, one of South Africa’s leading security companies, Top Security, took delivery of a brand-new fleet of 30 Chevrolet Spark Pronto units from Imperial GM Germiston on Tuesday 18 February.
Established in 1992, Top Security specialises in armed response, area and alarm monitoring and guarding in the Greater Johannesburg area. Company Executive Kenneth Carr says the Chevrolet Spark Pronto fits their requirements perfectly.
The Spark Pronto fleet will be run on a 24 hours a day, seven days a week schedule, each unit clocking up around 11 000 km every month. The fleet is expected to remain in service for at least three years. The Spark Pronto’s fuel efficiency played the biggest role in the purchasing decision, the company also highlighting practicality as another influencing factor.
The Chevrolet Spark Pronto is also a VAT-refundable vehicle, allowing VAT-registered Top Security to claim the VAT back on all units purchased.
This initial deal with Top Security has also created extended interest in the security industry, two other private operators already having made enquiries at Imperial GM Germiston regarding further fleet deals.

Inexpensive to own compared to larger light commercial vehicles, the Spark Pronto is based on the Spark we proudly produce in Port Elizabeth, and continues to offer the same safe and efficient motoring as its passenger-based siblings.”
The Chevrolet Spark Pronto is powered by a 60 kW/ 108 Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine and sips fuel on the combined cycle at an average rate of just 5.4-litres per 100 km (as per government agree method). It retails for R107 000 including VAT, including a 5-year/ 120 000 km warranty.
