After a two year stint as President & CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V. (MME), Akinori Nakanishi has been appointed Corporate General Manager of the North American Office at Mitsubishi Motors’s global headquarters in Tokyo.
Effective since the start of the new fiscal year on April 1st, 2012, his successor is Tomohisa Nishina.
A 57 year old seasoned international executive with a comprehensive thirty-three year career with Mitsubishi, Nishina-san has gained a valuable experience in fields such as supply chain management, logistics planning or export operations, including nearly four years in Europe between 2003 and 2007.
While A. Nakanishi managed to steer Mitsubishi Motors’ European operations successfully through the turmoil of the financial crisis[1] and oversaw the launch of the popular ASX compact crossover in the region, T. Nishina will strive to sustain MME’s momentum in a depressed European market.
Beyond, he will also be tasked with the most strategic duty of introducing European customers to a new and greener Mitsubishi Motors in all MME’s 34 countries, supported by a new range of innovative engineering-driven vehicles, including the premium New Outlander ICE[2] (fall of 2012), the lightweight and aerodynamic low emission Global Small (early 2013), the below 50g/km EV-based New Outlander P-HEV (during 2013), etc.
