PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA – Tip Top Milk, one of South Africa’s foremost dairy logistics specialists, has taken another confident step forward in its growth journey with the addition of 21 new Mercedes-Benz Actros 2645 Pure trucks to its fleet. The acquisition marks a significant milestone in a partnership that has spanned 15 years and flourished through shared values, unwavering support, and a joint commitment to excellence. With this latest delivery, Tip Top Milk has now purchased a total of 155 Mercedes-Benz Trucks, underlining the brand’s central role in the company’s expansion and operational reliability.
Founded in 2010 by the late Beyers de Bruin, Tip Top Milk began with little more than determination, faith, and a single Dyna 3500 milk tanker. At a time when many farmers battled with milk oversupply, Beyers saw an opportunity to serve both producers and consumers while building a values-driven business that put people first. Today, that vision has grown into a national operation with three depots, a workforce of around 200 employees and an impressive 36 million litres of milk sourced, collected and transported every month.
Despite its growth, Tip Top Milk’s core values remain firmly intact. “Our business is built around people – our customers and our employees,” says David de Jager, Chief Executive Officer at Tip Top Milk. “We pride ourselves on doing what is right and being honest in everything we do.” These principles – faith, pride, passion, leadership, courage, integrity and people – continue to guide every decision the company makes.
The relationship between Tip Top Milk and Mercedes-Benz Trucks was forged in that very spirit. When Beyers sought a partner who believed in his vision, Mercedes-Benz Trucks stepped up. “In 2010, Mercedes-Benz Trucks was the only truck brand willing to take a chance on us,” David recalls. “That’s where Beyers’ love for the brand started.”
That early show of belief laid the foundation for a partnership strengthened through the dedicated support of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Motus Daimler Trucks Airport. David is quick to acknowledge the human element behind the corporate relationship: “Ruan Pienaar and the team have been exceptional. Their support is unwavering, and they never make excuses. It’s a pleasure doing business with them.”
In an industry where reliability determines success, Tip Top Milk’s experience with Mercedes-Benz Trucks has been consistently positive. The company cites exceptional durability in engines and gearboxes, as well as the long-term performance of its fleet. “We have a truck in our fleet with over a million kilometres on the clock,” David notes. “But no matter how reliable a truck is, repairs will eventually be needed. That’s where Mercedes-Benz Trucks truly stand out – the availability of parts makes all the difference and keeps our business moving.”
Equally critical is uptime, supported by the expansive Mercedes-Benz Trucks dealer network. With at least two dealerships along one of Tip Top Milk’s major routes, support is never far away. David describes a recent incident that reinforces this: “We contacted Motus Daimler Trucks Airport on a Saturday afternoon with an urgent need to replace one of our trucks. By Tuesday, the new truck was delivered. That level of responsiveness and support is a testament to Mercedes-Benz Truck’s commitment.”

Technology, too, plays a pivotal role in keeping the business efficient and sustainable. Tip Top Milk employs Fleetboard, the advanced telematics system from Mercedes-Benz Trucks, to monitor fuel efficiency and driving behaviour. Built into the company’s driver bonus structure, Fleetboard has delivered impressive results. Driver scores have improved from 8.9 in 2014 to 9.4 in 2025, thanks to targeted training and real-time operational insights—contributing to reduced downtime, lower fuel consumption and decreased maintenance costs.
While technology, reliability and performance all matter, one factor stands above the rest for Tip Top Milk: people. “Mercedes-Benz Trucks are not only the most aesthetically pleasing trucks on the road – they offer a host of features and benefits that support our operations,” David notes. “But for us, the most important factor is our people. Our drivers spend countless hours behind the wheel every day, and their comfort directly affects their performance and well-being. That’s why we choose Mercedes-Benz Trucks: they deliver unmatched comfort, helping us take care of the people who keep our business moving.”
Responding to the milestone, Olaf Petersen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Daimler Truck Southern Africa, said: “Tip Top Milk is a trusted company that keeps Africa moving. Fifteen years ago, we saw their vision and potential, and today we’re proud to be one of the leading brands behind their business. We sincerely thank David and the entire Tip Top Milk team for their loyalty over the years. Their continued trust inspires us more than ever to support their business as it grows from strength to strength.”
As Tip Top Milk marks 15 years of dedicated service to the South African dairy industry, the addition of 21 new Actros 2645 Pure trucks is more than a fleet upgrade—it is a renewed affirmation of a partnership built on trust, performance and shared principles. With Mercedes-Benz Trucks by its side, Tip Top Milk continues to chart a future defined by reliability, innovation and a steadfast commitment to the people who power its success.
