Three local businessmen are combining forces to make for an interesting display at the Outdoor Lifestyle Show at Expo Centre on August 24-26. They will display customising kits and a load box lid for bakkies as well as a variety of tyres for quads, motorcycles and pit bikes.

Johannesburg Lifestyle Show

The companies are AfriTrux, Securi-Lid and Batt Tyres.

Anthony Clifton, who has established AfriTrux as a customising and accessory fitment centre after a long career in the local motor industry, will have his products displayed on three Toyota Hilux bakkies at the show.

The major AfriTrux products at this stage are a range of wheel arch extensions and Dick Cepek alloy wheels priced from the Kalahari kit at R26 232 to a Sahara conversion that includes a raised body, uprated springs and shock absorbers, larger wheels (35”) and tyres at R66 000.

In between there is an intermediate Namib kit with 30” wheels, priced between R38 000 and R40 000, depending on the exact specification. At present all these kits are for the Hilux, but the range is to be expanded to include other makes in the future.

Dewi Evans, the Gauteng distributor for Securi-Lid load-body covers, will be promoting the robust, new, aluminium roller shutter 212 model range. The company sees this product as a versatile alternative to a canopy or tonneau cover. It also contributes to fuel saving as it directs the air across the load box.

The Securi-Lid 212 has a unique drainage system out of the back, while a central lock into the tailgate provides security. The lid retracts into a canister at the front of the load box, allowing access into the load box from three sides. A mounting system built into the side rails permits the attachment of racks for roof, latter and bike racks – even a roof top tent.

The third aspect of this display will be selection of BATT and Sava tyres from Midrand-based BATT Holdings. Sava, of Slovenia, is a subsidiary of Goodyear, while BATT is reputedly the top-selling brand of quad tyres in Africa and BATT Holdings’ Bruce de Kock is continuing to expand the company’s range of product offerings. This now includes motorcycle and scooter tyres as well as Minimoto pocket bike racers.
