Using their podcast, Driving While Awesome, Cervantes and Madsen floated the idea of RADwood to their audience. The enthusiastic response led to the first event, which featured 150 cars and 400 attendees. By December of the same year, the event had grown to 400 cars and 2,000 attendees in Orange County, south of Los Angeles. RADwood’s success in the USA paved the way for its expansion across the Atlantic.

The first UK RADwood event took place in 2019 at Goodwood, a fitting location for this retro celebration. “Our main demographic is around 45, but it’s an interesting bell curve that’s flatter than you think,” Cervantes notes.
