The Southern African Endurance Series (SAES) is set to rev up excitement in the world of motorcycle racing with the recent agreement to include the Motorcycle Racing Series SA (MRSSA) in their lineup. This new collaboration brings together the renowned SA Endurance National Championship, V8 Roadster National Championship, and Super Vee SA tour, promising a thrilling boost to racing enthusiasts across South Africa.
A Strategic Partnership
The incorporation of MRSSA into the SA Endurance National Championship was marked by a significant showcase at the Four Hours of Kyalami. The event demonstrated not only the professionalism and seamless organization of the series but also highlighted the substantial media exposure gained through SuperSport’s live coverage and the livestream on YouTube. This partnership is set to broaden the audience for both series, creating new opportunities for competitors and fans alike.
MRSSA’s Vision and Objectives
MRSSA, a Motorsport SA accredited club series, aims to sustain the thrill of motorcycle racing amidst escalating costs. As explained by MRSSA Committee member Mick Landi, the rising expenses, including circuit hire, necessitate a strategic alliance with a prestigious national championship. By integrating with SA Endurance, MRSSA can consolidate costs while leveraging the extensive media coverage provided by SAES. This move is anticipated to attract new sponsors and provide greater visibility for the series, which operates as a non-profit organization dedicated to the sport.

New Classes and Exciting Races
In the upcoming season, MRSSA will introduce six of their classes at each round of the SAE. The classes include:
- 1000 Unlimited: Open superbike class, featuring high-performance motorcycles.
- Super 600: For competitive 600cc bikes.
- Botts V4: A class dedicated to V4 engine motorcycles.
- Sub 500: For bikes with engines under 500cc.
- Masters Class: Catering to riders aged 45 and above.
- Novice Class: Designed for new and emerging riders.
This diverse range of classes is set to enhance the competitive landscape of the SA Endurance National Championship, offering something for every motorcycle racing enthusiast.
SAES’s Enthusiastic Endorsement
Wayne Riddell, CEO of SAES, expressed enthusiasm about the addition of MRSSA to the SA Endurance National Championship Series. He noted that MRSSA’s integration adds considerable value to the existing championship lineup, which already includes the Super Vee single-seater championship and occasional guest appearances by Silver Cup saloon car racers. The enhanced racing schedule will provide fans with even more thrilling content and better value for their ticket purchases. Riddell and his Board of Directors are optimistic about the long-term benefits of this partnership and look forward to a fruitful collaboration.
The collaboration between SAES and MRSSA marks an exciting development in South African motorcycle racing. By combining forces, these organizations are set to deliver an enriched racing experience for fans, provide greater exposure for competitors, and foster a sustainable future for the sport. As the new season approaches, racing enthusiasts can look forward to an exhilarating lineup of events and classes that promise to push the boundaries of motorcycle racing in the region.
