The Caravan Writers’ Guild (CWG) was formed in April 1982, and celebrated its 40th anniversary in style by holding its annual industry dinner at the Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant, Hampton Manor, during last month’s Motorhome and Caravan Show.
Almost 100 guests, including Guild members and representatives from manufacturers, suppliers and both the Caravan and Motorhome Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club, enjoyed a wonderful evening together. There was even one Guild member at the dinner, David Ritchie, who had also been at the inaugural meeting of the CWG at a hotel in London on 23rd June, 1982.
Another highlight of the evening was the announcement of the CWG’s annual awards for written and video journalism. Each winner receives a cut-glass trophy and £1,000 prize.
The awards, named after late but notable past members, are sponsored by Kingfisher Insurance, and not chosen by the Guild but by an independent panel of judges from across the caravan industry.
