Cape Town, South Africa – 10 June 2025 – The wait is nearly over for motoring enthusiasts eager to experience South Africa’s premier regularity rally. Public entries for The Cape 1000, 2026, open at 12:00 PM (SAST) on Thursday, 12 June 2025 via www.cape1000.com.
Since its inception in 2022, The Cape 1000 has rapidly established itself as the country’s most prestigious classic car event, drawing inspiration from legendary tribute rallies across the globe. It offers a rare and exhilarating combination of classic motoring, competitive precision driving, and scenic discovery across a four-day, 1000-mile (1600 km) journey through the breathtaking Western Cape.
A Celebration of Automotive Heritage and Precision
The rally caters to a diverse array of vehicles and enthusiasts, with entries divided into four distinctive categories:
- Pre-1976 (Classic)
- 1977–1996 (Modern Classic)
- 1997–current (Sports)
- Restomod / Recreation
Event Director Vanessa Crichton emphasises the event’s commitment to celebrating automotive heritage: “Although we have a limited supercar category, The Cape 1000 aims to showcase older and rarer vehicles.” The event has welcomed extraordinary machines in past years, including an ultra-rare 1935 Bentley Derby Special, a 1958 Corvette Stingray SWC, a 1966 Sunbeam Tiger, and a 1973 Ferrari Dino — each a rolling piece of motoring history.

The Journey and Experience
The Cape 1000 2026 will officially commence with the much-anticipated Show and Shine at the Cape Town Hotel School on Sunday, 15 March 2026. The rally will then embark on a carefully curated route, beginning with the stunning Cape Peninsula. Participants will traverse scenic roads leading to Fancourt and Hermanus, before returning to Cape Town for a grand finale at The Silo Precinct, Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, on Thursday, 19 March 2026.
While the event offers the allure of grand touring, organisers are sharpening their focus on the regularity rallying aspect for 2026 — blending the precision and skill of competitive driving with the sheer joy of exploring South Africa’s iconic landscapes.
