Japan premiere for BMW BluePerformance technology: The BMW X5 xDrive35d BluePerformance.
The Tokyo Motor Show is taking place from the 3rd of December 2011 to the 11th of December 2011. Visitors to the Tokyo Motor Show can see the launch and premiere of the new X5 Drive 35D BMW at the motor show.

To this end, BMW BluePerformance technology is paving the way for outstandingly low fuel consumption and emissions which meet the world’s most stringent legislation. And now BMW is also offering customers in Japan the opportunity to experience the qualities of Advanced Diesel with BMW BluePerformance.
With the premiere of the BMW X5 xDrive35d BluePerformance at the Tokyo Motor Show 2011, the German premium carmaker is adding a Sports Activity Vehicle to its model range whose poise, assurance and versatility are underlined in consummate style by the new engine variant. Its 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line powerplant with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology produces maximum output of 180 kW/245 hp and puts peak torque of 540 Newton metres (398 lb-ft) on tap between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm.
The result is addictive power delivery reaffirming the model’s sporting character, accompanied by extremely low fuel consumption and emissions.
In order to make its exhaust emissions as clean as possible, the BMW X5 xDrive35d BluePerformance is equipped not only with a diesel particulate filter and oxidation catalytic converter, but also with BMW BluePerformance technology.
Here, an AdBlue system with urea injection further reduces the levels of nitrogen oxide (NOx) in the car’s exhaust. The ammonia created through the injection of the AdBlue solution in the catalytic converter breaks down the nitrogen oxides in the exhaust into environmentally compatible nitrogen and steam. The optimised exhaust treatment system has no impact on the performance capability of the BMW X5 xDrive35d BluePerformance.
The BMW X5 xDrive35d BluePerformance accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.0 seconds. As well as an eight-speed automatic gearbox, it also comes as standard with BMW xDrive all-wheel drive, ensuring agile handling, reassuring stability and optimised traction in all conditions.
The spacious, luxuriously appointed interior of the BMW X5 xDrive35d BluePerformance contains seating for five passengers, and the two-part tailgate opens to reveal a versatile luggage area whose capacity can be expanded from 620 to a maximum 1,750 litres.
