On 28 March 2024, the Kia EV9 distinguished itself at the 2024 World Car Awards by winning both the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle titles. The awards were announced during a ceremony at the New York Auto Show, highlighting the EV9’s outstanding achievements. With a panel comprising 100 eminent automotive journalists from 29 different nations, the awards acknowledged the EV9 for its cutting-edge design, expansive seven-seater cabin, and attractive pricing. Built on the E-GMP platform, the EV9 introduces the latest, fourth-generation battery technology, enhancing its performance.

The World Car Awards, initiated in 2003, stand as a global benchmark for automotive superiority and innovation, celebrating significant achievements in an evolving car industry. Before this year’s accolades, Kia had already secured three World Car Awards, with the Telluride winning World Car of the Year and the Soul EV winning World Urban Car in 2020, and the Kia EV6 GT being named World Performance Car of the Year in 2023.
Ho Sung Song, the President and CEO of Kia, expressed profound honor in the EV9’s recognition as both World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle, seeing it as a reflection of Kia’s dedication to innovation and design excellence. This latest recognition for the Kia EV9 adds to its growing list of industry accolades, underscoring the brand’s commitment to delivering outstanding vehicles that transform the driving experience globally.
