The Tyre Equipment and Parts Association (TEPA), a distinguished division of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI), proudly announces the appointment of Kugen Pather as the new Associational Representative for the Coastal region. This strategic appointment covers KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) as well as the Western and Eastern Cape regions, reinforcing TEPA’s commitment to robust regional representation.

A Wealth of Industry Expertise

Bringing extensive experience in the automotive sector, Pather is well-equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities unique to these coastal areas. His role will be pivotal in enhancing TEPA’s engagement, advocacy, and support for its members at both regional and national levels.

Vishal Premlall, TEPA National Director, expressed confidence in Pather’s ability to drive positive change: “Kugen’s well-rounded expertise in data analysis, fleet management, asset finance, and business information collation makes him an invaluable addition to our leadership team. His track record of managing both corporate and public sector accounts, coupled with his operational experience, ensures he is well-prepared to elevate TEPA’s presence in these key regions.”

Commitment to Member Engagement

Sharing his enthusiasm for his new role, Pather remarked, “I am excited to join the dynamic TEPA team and work closely with our coastal members. My recent experience, particularly with the RT46 contract, has given me valuable insight that I hope to leverage in supporting our members. My focus is on ensuring we continue to provide outstanding service while driving meaningful industry improvements.”

Reflecting on his career transition, Pather added, “After 16 years in corporate and public sector fleet management, focusing on maintenance and repairs, I felt the time was right for a change. Growth and new challenges are essential for progress, and joining TEPA provides an opportunity to apply my expertise while expanding my own professional horizons.”

Vision for the Future

Recognising the importance of collaboration, Pather emphasised his dedication to fostering strong relationships. “Engaging with members as much as possible is a priority for me. I encourage members to reach out so we can work together to address any challenges they face,” he stated.

Outlining his strategic objectives, Pather highlighted several key focus areas: “I see a significant opportunity to establish partnerships with large fleet providers, positioning TEPA members as the preferred suppliers of parts, equipment, and high-quality tyres. Additionally, I aim to enhance member engagement through roadshows and other interactive platforms that allow us to better understand and address their needs.”

A Leader with a Personal Touch

Beyond his professional ambitions, Pather enjoys reading—particularly science fiction thrillers—cooking, and working on cars. A firm believer in the philosophy of “Carpe Diem,” he values striking a balance between his professional and personal life. “Weekends are dedicated to family time with my wife and kids, allowing me to recharge and enjoy the quieter side of life,” he shared.

Premlall concluded, “With his leadership, industry expertise, and passion for relationship-building, Kugen Pather will play an instrumental role in advancing TEPA’s mission in the Coastal region. We are excited for the positive impact his appointment will bring.”
