Tata Xenon

About the Tata Xenon XT:

The Tata XENON XT has an impressive list of features that gives it a competitive edge among other lifestyle bakkie options in the market. It has a perfect blend of looks, safety, comfort, convenience and performance thanks to its European styling, features like navigation, bluetooth,  dual airbags, ABS, differential lock (double cabs), limited slip differential (single cabs) etc. and common rail diesel engine delivering high power & torque yet providing the overall performance of an efficient work-horse.

The new Xenon XT is packed with XTreme Technology. It is powered by a new generation 2.2L VTT DiCOR (Variable Turbine Technology, Direct Injection Common Rail) engine that is controlled by a 32-bit electronic control unit and incorporates state-of-the-art technology. This is the same Euro V engine that powers the Xenon range across the world. This engine has been fine tuned to meet domestic Euro II requirements.

VTT DiCOR Engine is an innovation developed keeping in mind customer needs for higher torque, higher power, higher fuel efficiency, low emissions and comfortable driving. The new engine delivers an incredible peak power of 110 kW @ 4000 rpm and peak torque of 320 Nm over a wide rpm range of 1500 – 3000. Xenon XT has one of the flattest torque curves, giving it one of the best engine elasticity. It uses electronically controlled Variable Turbine Technology that increases the lower end torque for better launch and driveability. The vertical centralised injector and the variable swirl system together, provide good air and fuel mixing resulting in complete combustion and outstanding fuel efficiency & hence low emissions. So this engine not only provides best-in-class performance but is also environment friendly.

Tata Xenon XT

The XENON XT DC 4×4 is an apt adventure bakkie that confidently yearns for the challenge of the roughest 4×4 terrain. It has a maximum gradeability of 78% and restartability of 60%, which means it empowers you to conquer virtually any steep slope. . This coupled with the heady torque of 320 Nm available from RPMs as low as 1500 and over a wide range (1500 to 3000 rpm) enables it to tackle the most challenging 4×4 trails. Another useful aspect of this bakkie is the “Shift on the Fly” feature. This feature allows the driver to change into 4×2 or a 4×4 drive without having to come to a complete stop. Xenon XT double cab has an automatic differential lock that enhances its off road capability. The diff lock kicks in as soon as the sensors sense an RPM difference of 100 or more between the two rear wheels, allowing the driver to pull out of a potentially tricky situation. Xenon XT single cab has a Limited slip differential (LSD) that helps it to pull away from slippery or wet surfaces, reduces the chances of getting stuck in mud and mire on difficult terrain.

With Xenon XT, one can experience wild outdoors in the cushioned comfort and safety of it’s indoors. Extra care has been taken to ensure driver and passenger safety with advanced features for both active and passive safety. Xenon XT provides increased safety during collision. It comes with standard dual airbags (driver + passenger) and crash worthy seat belts with RPLL (Retractors, Pre-tensioners & Load Limiters) that increase the safety of the occupants in the event of a crash. The Xenon XT also has one of the strongest chassis in its class, offering an overall structure that is strong and safe. Multiple crumple zones and side impact beams help maintain passenger survival space even in the event of a collision. Also for enhanced safety, in case of a frontal impact, the steering column collapses thereby protecting the driver from injury. A steel thickness of 0.8-1.5 mm for the body and a 3 layered structure made from corrugated double galvanised steel provide further strength and safety. With the use of latest technology and advanced computer aided engineering systems, a maximum strength structure has been developed using the monocoque body on a chassis frame. Xenon XT provides safe braking. It comes standard with ABS (Anti Lock Braking System) that prevents the wheels from locking and skidding during emergency braking conditions. It also has a short braking distance. Xenon XT has a twin circuit braking system for emergency. If there is any problem with one of the circuits, another one will be used to stop the vehicle. Standard front and rear fog lamps add to the active safety features of Xenon XT. Front fog lamps provide increased visibility while driving in fog. Rear fog lamps serve as high-intensity rear position lamps in poor visibility conditions to enhance vehicle visibility for traffic approaching from behind.

The Xenon XT has been designed not only for extreme performance but also to give a comfortable driving experience with low NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). With electric windows, power steering, navigation, bluetooth, radio, MP3, side steps, bucket seats with armrests, tiltable steering column etc., Xenon XT is truly a resort on wheels.

Xenon XT helps you make a distinctive style statement. Its European styling gives a pleasant feel to the vehicle. The front signature Tata chrome grill and attractive clear lens headlamps are complimented by flared wheel arches. Alloy wheels, stylish pull type door handles, indicators on side rear view mirrors, attractive colours & stylish interiors further add to the oomph quotient of the Xenon XT.

Xenon XT will help take the extra load off your shoulders. It has a ladder frame chassis which is one of the strongest in its class and more durable than the competition. Tata being a leader in steel making, has ensured that the best quality steel is used in the manufacturing of the chassis for Xenon XT in order to make it safer, rugged and carry any type of load on any road conditions. With original high raised suspension and wide track coupled with high kerb weight, the center of gravity is low giving good stability to the vehicle and thus good balance. The Xenon XT suspension is designed to give firm road grip, excellent balance and good high speed control even when it’s heavily loaded. This makes Xenon XT suitable for all applications on all road conditions, capable of climbing steep slopes and negotiating difficult terrains with ease. The rear suspension uses a rigid axle system with several layers of leaf springs to give extra loading capability. The rear load bin is made from double corrugated galvanized steel sheets specially treated with chemicals that offer more strength, durability and rust resistance. Standard bin liner in double cabs makes the open deck floor scratch free so that you can load whatever you like. With all this body strength and pulling torque of 320 Nm, you will get an excellent payload capability of 1225 kgs in Single Cab 4X2 and towing capability of 2200 kgs (4X4). Payload capability of all the Xenon XT variants is given below:

  • Xenon XT Single Cab 4X2: 1225 kg
  • Xenon XT Single Cab 4X4: 1135 kg
  • Xenon XT Double Cab 4X2: 1015 kg
  • Xenon XT Double Cab 4X4: 975 kg

Xenon XT comes with peace of mind offerings that are better than most of the competition in the market. With the 5 yrs/ 90 000 km service plan, 4 yrs/120 000 km vehicle warranty, 4 yrs/120 000 km anti corrosion warranty  & 4 yrs, unlimited km roadside assistance, Xenon XT offers complete peace of mind.

The icing on the cake is that the Xenon XT with its eXTreme features also provides complete value for money. For example: All the eXTra top class features in the Xenon XT double cab 4X2 compared to the existing Xenon double 4X2 (increased power, two air bags, diff lock, navigation, Bluetooth, increased warranty, complimentary accessories like side steps, bin liner etc.) is worth R41 500 but Xenon XT double cab 4X2 is priced only R11500 more than the Xenon double cab 4X2; providing customers an additional value of R 30,000.

Xenon XT is a unique vehicle having the combination of high end features and exceptional value for money. This makes it an ideal bakkie for segments like family &leisure, farming, mining, construction, small businesses, municipalities etc. Its excellent off-roading capabilities also make it an ideal vehicle for 4X4 enthusiasts.

The new Xenon XT also has a laundry list of accessories that can help you customize it to the hilt. You can enhance its utility and aggressive stance with nudge guard, bull bar, roll bar, tow bar, rear nudge guard, tonneaue cover, canopy etc.
