Tata Motors has reinforced its position as a global commercial mobility leader with a comprehensive showcase of 11 vehicles in Cape Town, South Africa, highlighting the breadth of its engineering capability and its commitment to next-generation transport solutions tailored for diverse operating environments.
The event brought together a curated portfolio spanning electric mobility, advanced diesel platforms, and passenger transport solutions, underscoring the company’s ability to develop application-ready vehicles designed to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and lower total cost of ownership. Across the lineup, the emphasis was clear: flexible platforms engineered for real-world demands, from dense urban delivery routes to long-haul regional freight and mass passenger transport.
Among the standout reveals was the all-new Ultra Prime RE, a 10.8-metre rear-engine midi bus purpose-built for urban and peri-urban transport. Designed to enhance passenger comfort while maintaining operational efficiency, it reflects Tata Motors’ continued investment in high-duty public mobility platforms suited to evolving city transport needs.
Complementing this was the Azura range, the company’s next-generation intermediate and light-duty truck platform developed for regional and inter-city haulage. Positioned as a productivity-focused solution, Azura is engineered to deliver stronger uptime, improved lifecycle value, and enhanced driver comfort, addressing the growing demand for efficient freight movement across expanding trade corridors.
A significant portion of the showcase was dedicated to electric mobility, signalling Tata Motors’ accelerating push toward cleaner commercial transport. The Tata Ace Pro EV introduces a compact, zero-emission solution for last-mile logistics, combining agility with cost efficiency for high-frequency urban delivery cycles. The Tata Intra EV extends this capability into higher payload operations, offering improved earning potential for businesses operating in demanding urban cargo environments.
The Ultra E.9 light electric truck further expands intra-city logistics options, offering manoeuvrability and dependable performance for cleaner urban freight operations. At the heavier end of the spectrum, the Prima E28.K electric tipper targets mining and construction applications, delivering high torque performance and durability while supporting decarbonisation in traditionally emissions-intensive sectors.
The Intra V30 and V70 models reinforced Tata Motors’ focus on earning efficiency for commercial operators. With payload capacities ranging from 1,300 kg to 1,950 kg and thoughtfully designed driver-focused cabins, the range is engineered to reduce fatigue while maximising operational output. These vehicles reflect a broader shift toward productivity-centred design in small commercial transport.
Passenger mobility solutions also formed a major pillar of the showcase, with multiple buses designed for varying duty cycles. The Ultra Prime RE leads the segment with its modern midi-bus configuration, while the LPO 1618 Magna offers a fully built 44-seater AC configuration tailored for staff and inter-city travel. The LP 909 bus delivers compact reliability for school and staff transport, and the LPO 1623 Nova introduces a premium 49-seater configuration designed for longer inter-city routes with enhanced comfort.
Speaking at the showcase, Mr. Asif Shamim, Head – International Business at Tata Motors Ltd., emphasised the company’s application-led engineering philosophy, highlighting its focus on delivering practical, reliable, and durable mobility solutions tailored to varied market conditions. He noted that the portfolio reflects both technological advancement and deep engineering capability, enabling Tata Motors to support customer productivity across geographies and use cases.
