Mladá Boleslav/Nice, 22 July 2024 – The 111th edition of the Tour de France saw Škoda Auto make a memorable impression, both on and off the cycling track. As the prestigious race reached its thrilling conclusion, Škoda Auto highlighted its continued commitment to the sport and showcased its upcoming innovation: the Škoda Elroq.
A Celebration of Cycling Excellence
The final stage of the Tour de France was marked by the crowning of Tadej Pogačar as the overall winner, who was awarded the coveted crystal trophy designed by Škoda. This iconic trophy, crafted by the renowned Škoda Design department, symbolizes the pinnacle of cycling achievement. Biniam Girmay, who clinched the points classification, also received a green crystal trophy from Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto.
Zellmer expressed pride in the company’s long-standing partnership with the Tour de France, stating, “The final laps are thrilling and make me proud that Škoda Auto is the main partner again to the Tour de France, for the 21st year in a row. I want to congratulate all the athletes who have given their best for almost 3,500 kilometres. We were honoured to be able to support the teams with our fleet, including the Director’s cars, and pleased to be part of the awards ceremonies.”
The Elroq’s Public Debut
In a special surprise for cycling fans, Škoda Auto unveiled a camouflaged version of its latest all-electric model, the Škoda Elroq, during the final stage. This compact SUV, which will officially premiere this autumn, made its public-event debut alongside the race participants. The Elroq represents the brand’s new design language, Modern Solid, which will shape the future of Škoda’s vehicle portfolio.
The camouflaged Elroq was not only a symbol of Škoda’s innovative spirit but also a testament to its role in modernizing the automotive industry. While the full details of the Elroq remain under wraps, its appearance at such a high-profile event highlights Škoda’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology with its rich cycling heritage.

A Long-Standing Partnership
Škoda Auto’s support for the Tour de France dates back to 2004, and this year marks the continuation of its role as the official main partner and car supplier through to 2028. The brand has been instrumental in providing 205 Škoda vehicles for the event, including the “red cars,” an all-electric Enyaq, and a new plug-in-hybrid Superb Combi. The company’s dedication extends beyond the race, as it also sponsors 20 top cycling events globally, including the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift since 2022.
The crystal trophies, which have been a hallmark of Škoda’s involvement, are a product of 14 years of design excellence. Each hand-made trophy stands 60 cm tall and weighs 5 kg, reflecting the prestigious nature of the awards.

As Škoda Auto prepares for the upcoming debut of the Elroq, the company continues to strengthen its connection with the cycling world. The extension of its partnership with the Tour de France and its sponsorship of various other cycling events underscore its commitment to supporting the sport at all levels.
