From compact city cruisers to rugged off-road warriors, Suzuki Auto South Africa is set to deliver one of the most diverse and immersive experiences at this year’s Festival of Motoring (FOM), taking place from 29 to 31 August at the iconic Kyalami International Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng.
The Japanese marque’s presence will be impossible to miss, with multiple interactive display zones spread across the venue. At the heart of the action, the Main Pits will showcase some of Suzuki’s most popular models, including the Fronx, Jimny, Grand Vitara and Baleno. Visitors can relax with a barista-crafted coffee served from a specially converted Eeco van while admiring the stylish fourth-generation Swift – a car that’s quickly established itself as a top seller since its late-2024 launch.
Swift Moves and High-Speed Thrills
With its nimble handling, class-leading safety tech, and frugal yet lively 1.2-litre engine, the new Swift embodies the perfect balance between efficiency and driving fun. At Kyalami, the excitement goes up a gear as guests sign up for high-speed passenger laps in selected Suzuki models – from the feisty Swift Sport to the new Swift GLX – both fresh from impressive runs at this year’s Simola Hill Climb. For 2025, the Fronx and Baleno join the performance showcase, proving their mettle on the 4.529-kilometre circuit.
Just a short walk away, the Upper Pits will display an accessorised Swift and a fully kitted Fronx, offering inspiration for visitors looking to personalise their ride with styling upgrades, protective gear, and performance parts.
Two-Wheeled Performance and Racing Aspirations
Suzuki Motorcycles will also command attention, with everything from the agile 125cc Avenis scooter to the legendary 1,300cc Hayabusa on display. Making its FOM debut is the GSX-8R Cup race bike – unveiled to South African fans at the 2025 Simola Hill Climb.
The GSX-8R Cup is an exciting new single-make racing series, designed to keep costs manageable while offering pure, accessible competition. With racing initially focused in Gauteng and plans for expansion, riders can get on the grid for around R190,000, including a single set of tyres per round – ensuring a level playing field for aspiring racers.
Making Waves with Suzuki Marine
For the first time at FOM, Suzuki Marine will share the spotlight, showcasing the sought-after DF140 4-stroke outboard motor alongside a complete Suzumar inflatable boat package – perfect for visitors with a taste for water-based adventure.
Hands-On Adventures for All
On the handling track, showgoers can take the wheel of a Baleno, Celerio, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny 5-door or new Swift in a self-drive session. Off-road enthusiasts can head to the 4×4 track to experience the Jimny 5-door tackling a challenging obstacle course – proof of Suzuki’s go-anywhere DNA.
