16 April 2025 – New York City
Subaru has boldly expanded its electric ambitions with the global unveiling of two new battery-electric vehicles at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. Headlining the reveal are the all-new Subaru Trailseeker—an adventurous new EV SUV—and the significantly upgraded 2026 Subaru Solterra, both of which mark a pivotal moment in the brand’s ongoing electrification journey.
Trailblazing into the Electric Frontier: Introducing the Subaru Trailseeker
Combining Subaru’s rugged DNA with forward-thinking electric performance, the all-new Subaru Trailseeker makes its public debut in the U.S., with its European and UK naming still to be confirmed. Designed for the outdoors yet refined for daily life, the Trailseeker retains the brand’s hallmark Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, now optimised for electric powertrains.
Slated for UK launch in mid-2026, the Trailseeker brings together the off-road prowess and safety Subaru is known for with the silence and efficiency of EV motoring. From snow-covered trails to slick city streets, the Trailseeker promises go-anywhere confidence with its standard X-MODE® system, Grip Control, and generous 210mm ground clearance.
Solterra Reimagined: More Range, More Comfort, More Subaru
Also on display was the refreshed 2026 Subaru Solterra, boasting a compelling suite of enhancements across the board. Most notably, range has been boosted by more than 25% compared to the previous model, thanks to a new battery preconditioning system that actively manages battery temperature for optimal charging—particularly beneficial in cold climates.
The updated Solterra now features a more robust high-capacity lithium-ion battery, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in under 35 minutes, even in sub-zero temperatures. Charging speeds reach up to 150 kW, significantly reducing downtime during longer journeys.
Aesthetically, the Solterra debuts Subaru’s new EV lighting signature, highlighted by sleek redesigned headlamps, a reworked front bumper, and aerodynamic rear enhancements including a new rear badge, gate garnish, and spoiler. Complementing the fresh styling are newly designed 18- and 20-inch wheels, enhancing the SUV’s dynamic stance.
Inside, the cabin has been upgraded with a new 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen system supporting Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, along with wireless smartphone charging for front occupants and USB-C ports in the rear.

Technology and Safety at the Forefront
Both the Trailseeker and the new Solterra are equipped with Subaru’s latest EyeSight® driver-assist technologies, delivering a robust suite of safety and convenience features. These include Pre-Collision Braking, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Emergency Stop Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and a panoramic view monitor for enhanced all-round awareness.
Capability Meets Consciousness
Remaining true to the brand’s adventurous ethos, both models come standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and advanced terrain-management systems. With X-MODE®’s multiple off-road modes and Downhill Assist Control, these SUVs offer authentic all-terrain capability wrapped in eco-conscious engineering.
Though UK pricing and final specifications are yet to be announced, Subaru has confirmed that the enhanced Solterra will arrive in the UK in early 2026, followed by the Trailseeker mid-year.
As Subaru leans into the electric era, it does so without compromising on the qualities that have made it beloved across the globe—safety, reliability, off-road prowess, and a deep connection to the road less travelled.
