Rosslyn, South Africa, 1 December 2015 – The locally-produced Nissan NP200 is still South Africa’s favourite half ton bakkie, consistently outperforming all competitors with more than 1,500 unit sales per month over the last year.

To further enhance its position as market leader, a refreshed NP200 has started rolling off the production line at Nissan’s Rosslyn Plant after product engineers completed quality testing of new materials and equipment designed to make the cabin even more appealing.

The interior upgrades will further strengthen NP200’s position as the best-selling half ton pickup following its recent category win in the IPSOS Quality Awards for the fourth year running, accolades for the 1.5 dCi turbodiesel model as the most fuel efficient bakkie on the market and recognition in the Kinsey Report for class-leading low running costs.

Nissan has begun fitment of all-new cabin materials and additional specification on certain models to further improve the NP200’s value offering to both private and fleet buyers.

With this upgrade the NP200 receives a fresh, new interior look featuring new upholstery and a new audio system on specific models. Engineers have also refreshed the controls on the centre console.

The new interior trim was chosen to integrate perfectly with the black carpets and create a luxury feel inside the cabin. On all base models the seat and door trim will change to a hard-wearing black textured fabric with a vinyl inlay on the seat bolsters and sides.

On the mid-grade model, Nissan has opted for a younger-looking, more modern black and grey patterned fabric on the seats and door panels. This feel is complemented by black woven cloth on the seat bolsters and black vinyl inlays on the seat backs.

On high-grade 1.6 16V and 1.5 dCi models, the current trim is replaced with black and grey textured fabric and door panels, with black woven cloth on the sides and bolsters.

All mid and high-grade models also receive a new audio system that offers not only radio, CD and MP3 options, but also a USB port, audio jack and Bluetooth functionality.

As a further improvement, Nissan has redesigned the controls for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The premium-look controls are now black only with chrome surrounds, which is reminiscent of the Nissan passenger and crossover vehicle ranges.

Production of the upgraded NP200 has already started and the first models are expected at Nissan dealers across South Africa before the holiday season.
