Solar Power Africa 2025 Driving Africas Renewable Energy Transition

Host City Commitment

The City of Cape Town, a proud supporter and host of Solar Power Africa, continues to lead the charge in renewable energy deployment. Councillor Zimkhitha Sulelo, Energy Portfolio Committee Chair, reaffirmed the City’s dedication to enabling a greener future:

“As a municipality, the City is pushing the boundaries in the energy space and aims to be a leader in renewable energy deployment through its own projects and supporting private sector investments. Our Integrated Development Plan prioritizes energy security for economic growth, and initiatives such as our solar PV own-build projects—starting with our Atlantis plant—demonstrate this commitment.”

Cape Town has also streamlined its solar-PV application process, with over 5,000 customers utilizing the City’s e-Services portal. These efforts align seamlessly with Solar Power Africa’s mission, reinforcing the City’s leadership in clean and secure energy adoption.

Unlocking Africa’s Renewable Potential

As Africa undergoes rapid economic growth and transformation, renewable energy stands as a pillar of sustainable development. The expansion of solar power and energy storage presents immense opportunities for investors, developers, and operators to drive the continent’s transition towards a low-carbon future.

Solar Power Africa 2025, in partnership with RE+ events and sponsored by Sungrow, is endorsed by leading industry bodies, including the South African Energy Storage Association (SAESA), GreenCape, Circular Energy, and the Africa Solar Industry Association (AFSIA). This collaborative approach ensures a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange, fostering innovation in solar power and sustainable energy solutions across Africa.
