Mladá Boleslav, 11 June 2025 — In a momentous celebration of Škoda Auto’s 130-year legacy, the tenth Škoda Student Car—crafted by the passionate minds of 28 students from the Škoda Auto Secondary Vocational School of Engineering—is set to make its world premiere on 20 June. Named the Škoda L&K 130, this singular creation pays homage not only to the Czech marque’s storied past but to the pioneering spirit of founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement, whose initials continue to define Škoda’s DNA.
A Vehicle That Tells a Story
More than a commemorative gesture, the Škoda L&K 130 is a rolling narrative. Its very name encapsulates a rich industrial lineage that began in 1895 and has since evolved into one of Europe’s most respected automotive brands. From the earliest bicycles to cutting-edge electric vehicles, Laurin and Klement’s vision of accessible, reliable mobility remains deeply embedded in Škoda’s philosophy.
The L&K 130 brings that vision to life through a thoughtful blend of tradition and innovation. At its core lies the spirit of craftsmanship, honed over more than a century and passed down to the next generation of automotive engineers.

A Palette of Provenance
Perhaps the most eye-catching feature of the L&K 130 is its colour scheme, a deliberate and heartfelt nod to Škoda’s earliest branding. Drawing directly from the 1905 Laurin & Klement logo, the student team selected an elegant trio of deep red, gold and black. Far from mere aesthetic flourish, these colours served as symbols of prestige and ambition at the dawn of the 20th century—and they continue to resonate today, accentuating the car’s modern silhouette with timeless flair.
Inside, the homage deepens. Upholstered using sustainable materials, the cabin features heritage-inspired detailing across the seats, dashboard, door panels and steering wheel. It’s a tactile tribute to Škoda’s enduring commitment to quality and innovation.
Ten Visions, One Legacy
The L&K 130 also marks a milestone for Škoda Auto’s acclaimed Student Car programme, an initiative launched in 2014 to foster hands-on creativity among students of the brand’s vocational school. Over the past decade, the programme has produced a diverse array of concept vehicles, from open-top city cars to rugged adventure EVs—each a bold expression of design and engineering talent.
To celebrate the tenth Student Car, Škoda will bring all nine previous models together under one roof for the first time during next week’s unveiling ceremony. Among them will be the trailblazing 2014 Citijet, the versatile 2019 Mountiaq, and last year’s forward-thinking Roadiaq.
Looking Back to Move Forward
In naming and designing the L&K 130, the students have not merely created a car—they have captured the soul of Škoda Auto at a pivotal moment in its history. As the company looks to the future of mobility, the L&K 130 stands as a vibrant reminder of its roots and a symbol of the enduring values instilled by Laurin and Klement.
On 20 June, when the cover comes off the Škoda L&K 130, it won’t just reveal a new concept—it will unveil the next chapter in a 130-year journey powered by passion, precision, and pride.
