Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has bolstered its operational capabilities with the acquisition of 21 new Škoda Kodiaq SUVs. These vehicles, meticulously converted by Škoda’s approved converter Pressfab EVO Limited, are set to play a crucial role in enhancing emergency response efforts across the region.
The decision to integrate the Škoda Kodiaq into their fleet marks a significant milestone as these are the first Škoda vehicles to be adopted by the service. Equipped with a robust 2.0-litre TDI 200 PS engine, DSG transmission, and all-wheel drive, these SUVs offer a compelling blend of power, efficiency, and reliability—a perfect fit for the demands of emergency service operations.
Designed for versatility, the Kodiaqs will primarily serve as flexible duty officer transport vehicles, facilitating rapid response to a wide range of operational incidents including road traffic collisions and hazardous material emergencies. The spacious interior, highlighted by its expansive and adaptable boot space, ensures ample room for essential firefighting equipment and other mission-critical gear.

Colin Carter, Fleet Operations Manager at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, emphasized the practical advantages of choosing the Škoda Kodiaq: “The decision was driven largely by the generous interior space these vehicles offer. The large boot accommodates all necessary equipment our flexible duty fire officers require, and Škoda’s seamless conversion process through approved converters made the integration into our fleet smooth and efficient.”
Škoda’s commitment to supporting emergency services extends beyond vehicle provision. Emergency fleets, including those for ambulance, police, and fire and rescue teams nationwide, can customize Škoda vehicles through the brand’s bespoke emergency service converters. This includes integrating specialized communication platforms into the infotainment system and equipping vehicles with comprehensive 360-degree lighting solutions, tailored to meet individual operational requirements.
The addition of Škoda Kodiaq SUVs to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service’s fleet underscores a strategic investment in enhancing operational efficiency and readiness, ensuring they remain at the forefront of emergency response capability.
