Škoda Auto has initiated the series production of its updated Octavia model at its flagship facility in Mladá Boleslav on 8 April 2024. The latest rendition of the Octavia, a fourth-generation upgrade of the brand’s most popular car, showcases significant improvements including a newly designed Škoda grille, advanced second-generation LED matrix beam headlights, and the innovative incorporation of ChatGPT technology into its Laura voice assistant system, among other updates. The transition of Octavia’s manufacturing to the Kvasiny plant later in the year is set to increase production capacities in Mladá Boleslav, paving the way for the expanded production of the Enyaq, Enyaq Coupé, and Elroq models.
Andreas Dick, a key member of the Škoda Auto Production and Logistics team, highlighted the Octavia’s pivotal role in Škoda’s lineup since its modern inception in 1996, with over 7.5 million units produced. The latest model elevates standards in design, technology, and eco-friendliness, boasting increased safety features, a higher use of sustainable materials throughout the interior, and cutting-edge connectivity options.

Strategic Production Enhancements
The commencement of Octavia production in Mladá Boleslav brings forth a variety of engine options, including four petrol and two diesel engines, capable of up to 195 kW (265 PS), and includes mild-hybrid variants. A strategic relocation of production to Kvasiny later in the year aims to augment Octavia production capacity and optimize Mladá Boleslav’s facility for newer models.
A Legacy of Excellence
Since its debut, the Octavia has been instrumental in redefining Škoda Auto’s brand image, achieving bestseller status in seven European countries and leading the estate car segment in several markets. It recently clinched its 11th consecutive victory in the compact class import category at the Best Cars Readers’ Choice Awards, hosted by ‘auto motor and sport’.
Elevated Design and Technological Innovations
The updated Octavia features a more dynamic and streamlined exterior, alongside optional second-generation LED matrix beam headlights that merge aesthetic appeal with functionality. The interior is available in four trim levels and nine Design Selections, emphasizing eco-friendliness with recycled materials. Škoda’s commitment to sustainability is evident in features like the ice scraper in the fuel filler cap and optional umbrellas in the doors, all made from sustainable materials.
Technologically, the Octavia is at the forefront with a standard 10-inch display for its infotainment system and the integration of ChatGPT into the Laura voice assistant, enhancing the user interface with AI-driven capabilities. Advanced assist systems like Collision Avoidance Assist and Turn Assist enhance the safety and convenience of the driving experience.
Sportline and vRS Variants: Performance Meets Style
The Octavia will continue to be available in Sportline and vRS versions, catering to enthusiasts seeking a blend of dynamic design and robust performance. The Sportline variant offers diverse engine choices, while the vRS version stands out with its 195 kW (265 PS) 2.0 TSI engine, glossy black details, and a distinctive red reflector strip, accentuating its sporty elegance.
