Škoda Auto India has officially launched the refreshed Kushaq, further cementing its position in the competitive Indian SUV market. The updated model embraces Škoda’s Modern Solid design philosophy, introduces segment-first technologies, and offers a premium driving experience tailored for Indian roads. Pre-orders are now open via Škoda Auto India’s official website.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, emphasised the brand’s mission: “With the new Kushaq, we are meeting evolving customer preferences while offering a vehicle that combines safety, comfort, design, and convenience with proven European engineering. This SUV keeps our portfolio modern and relevant for our growing Škoda family.”
Made in India, for India
Since its debut in 2021, the Kushaq has been a testament to Škoda’s commitment to local innovation. Its name, derived from the Sanskrit word for “emperor,” reflects the SUV’s ambition to lead in its segment. Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform developed jointly in India and the Czech Republic, the Kushaq has already sold over 94,900 units and found international markets in Vietnam, the Middle East, and Africa.
The refreshed Kushaq builds on this legacy, maintaining practical features like ventilated electric front seats, cruise control, a rear-view camera with sensors, and wireless charging, while adding segment-first technologies including an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a Rear Seat Massage function.
Modern Solid Design and Monte Carlo Trim
The updated Kushaq presents a bold, contemporary exterior, with a new front grille featuring chrome ribs and an Illuminated Light Band. LED headlights, fog lamps, and front parking sensors complement the modern design, while the rear showcases connected taillights with sequential indicators and illuminated Škoda lettering. Robust wheel arch cladding and alloy wheels standard across all variants reinforce its SUV presence.
The SUV is available in eight colours, including three new options: Shimla Green, Steel Grey, and Cherry Red. Notably, the sporty Monte Carlo trim will be offered from launch, combining style and performance for those seeking a more dynamic look.
Powerful Engines and Smooth Transmission Options
The Kushaq retains its impressive ground clearance of 188 mm, ensuring readiness for diverse road conditions. A new segment-first eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission is paired with the efficient 1.0 TSI engine, producing 85 kW and 178 Nm of torque. A six-speed manual option is also available for the 1.0 TSI.
For those seeking more power, the 1.5 TSI engine delivers 110 kW and 250 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a seven-speed DSG transmission. The 1.5 TSI variant also features disc brakes on all four wheels, reinforcing performance and safety.
Interior Comfort and Practicality
The refreshed Kushaq brings a suite of comfort features designed for long journeys. A panoramic sunroof and dual-colour ambient lighting create an inviting cabin atmosphere, while six-way ventilated electric front seats enhance comfort. The boot offers 491 litres of space, expandable to 1,405 litres, catering to everyday practicality.
Climatronic, an electric sunroof, and over 25 safety features are standard, ensuring both comfort and security across all variants.
Smarter Driving with AI Companion
The new Kushaq integrates a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Powered by Google Automotive AI Agent, the in-car AI companion Gemini delivers context-aware assistance, enabling hands-free control of music, calls, climate, and more. Designed for Indian drivers, the system recognises local accents, merging global technology with local relevance for a smarter, safer driving experience.
Safety at the Forefront
Safety remains a core strength of the Kushaq, with five-star Global NCAP standards upheld across all variants. Over 25 active and passive safety features, including six airbags, are standard, while higher variants offer more than 40 safety features. Enhanced visibility and weather-adaptive systems, including rear wiper, defogger, and automatic rain-sensing wipers, further reinforce Škoda’s commitment to comprehensive safety.
Škoda’s Growing Presence in India
Škoda Auto has been a key player in India since 2000. With the launch of the “made in India, for India” campaign, the Kushaq SUV was followed by the Slavia sedan and the Kylaq SUV, helping Škoda nearly double its deliveries in 2025. India now serves as a strategic hub for Škoda’s operations across ASEAN, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand, highlighting the country’s pivotal role in the brand’s global growth strategy.
The updated Škoda Kushaq embodies a harmonious blend of European engineering, local innovation, and segment-first technology. With its refreshed design, powerful engines, cutting-edge AI, and extensive safety features, the SUV is positioned to set new benchmarks in the Indian automotive market, offering a truly modern and accessible driving experience.
