02 October 2024, Gaydon, UK – Aston Martin has announced that British sporting legend, Sir Mark Cavendish, has taken on the newly created role of Global High Performance Ambassador for the luxury automaker. Known as the “Manx Missile” for his unrivaled speed and determination on two wheels, Cavendish brings his unparalleled expertise in high performance to the brand, aligning perfectly with Aston Martin’s ethos of excellence on the road and track.
Cavendish’s appointment comes as he takes delivery of a new Aston Martin DBX707, the marque’s flagship ultra-luxury SUV, which he promptly tested on the world-renowned roads of the Isle of Man—his birthplace and home. This collaboration signals Aston Martin’s deepening ties to elite global sports, including its ongoing participation in Formula 1®, and further cements the brand’s focus on peak performance.
As the most successful sprinter in cycling history, Cavendish holds an extraordinary record of 35 Tour de France stage wins, more than any other rider. His illustrious career spans two decades, with victories in the Olympic Games, World Championships, and a host of track disciplines, including the Madison and Scratch Race. Cavendish’s deep understanding of high performance and success at the highest levels of competition makes him an ideal ambassador for a brand synonymous with power, precision, and luxury.

Reflecting on his new role, Cavendish shared his enthusiasm:
“I’m excited to get stuck into this new role with Aston Martin. I’ve long admired the brand’s dedication to pushing boundaries, and now, to be part of that drive for peak performance is a unique privilege. For a car enthusiast like me, it really is a boyhood dream come true to represent the iconic Aston Martin wings. Together, I believe we can achieve something truly remarkable.”
With his new DBX707, finished in a striking Photon Lime—reflecting Aston Martin’s racing heritage and Cavendish’s connection to the Tour de France green jersey—he is already relishing the experience. “I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the DBX707,” Cavendish added. “It’s an absolute beast, handling the twists and turns of the Isle of Man with ease. They’ve even fitted it with a bike rack for me!”
The DBX707, with its top speed of 194mph, is the perfect match for Cavendish, whose career has been defined by pushing boundaries. The SUV’s combination of power, agility, and luxury mirrors Cavendish’s own approach to performance, both on the bike and off. His role as Global High Performance Ambassador will see him collaborating with Aston Martin across its product and marketing efforts, as well as representing the brand at select international events.
Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer at Aston Martin, welcomed Cavendish to the team:
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Mark to the Aston Martin family. Our recent refresh of our core models has demonstrated Aston Martin being the best in class in terms of power, performance, and ultra-luxury. Mark embodies our philosophy of being performance-oriented, and this new ambassadorial role adds to our existing avenues of communicating our brand’s peak performance credentials, including involvement in Formula 1® and creation of the ultimate hypercar, Aston Martin Valkyrie.”
Cavendish’s new role underscores Aston Martin’s commitment to blending high-performance engineering with iconic design, while also expanding the brand’s influence within the international sporting world. As Aston Martin continues its journey as a leading luxury automotive brand, Sir Mark Cavendish’s role as ambassador is set to further elevate its standing in the realm of performance-driven innovation.
For Cavendish, who was knighted earlier this year for his athletic achievements and charitable work, this partnership is a natural fit—two icons of British excellence, both driven by a relentless pursuit of peak performance. Together, Aston Martin and Sir Mark Cavendish look set to continue breaking boundaries on and off the road.
