The final competitive hill climb events of the season take place at Shelsley Walsh this weekend, with several championships reaching their final stages.

The two separate one-day events will see a wide range of sports, classic, saloons and racing cars, with drivers from right across the country, taking to the track to race against the clock up the iconic hill climb course.

Halesowen driver Fred Currell has once again clinched the Service Hydraulics Championship title in his VW Golf, but final positions in the various classes will be closely fought, including Worcester driver Paul Jones competing in the 2Litre Class in his Lotus Elise 135R.

The ever popular Paul Matty Sports Cars Lotus Championship reaches its conclusion at the weekend and regular competitor Malcolm Thorne will now be sharing wife Sarah’s Lotus 340R following mechanical problems with his Lotus 24 racing car at last weekend’s Goodwood Revival Meetings.

Paul Matty said: “Next year sees the 25th anniversary of our championship, which I believe is a record in itself for a one-make series in hill climbing, so we will be planning plenty of special events and celebrations to mark that fantastic milestone.”

Saturday will see over 30 competitors taking part in the national motorcycle hill climb championship with several classes for various engine sizes and sidecar combinations. Also competiting on Saturday will be five cars in the Revington TR Register, Reliant cars in the SSSC Championship and an Austin Mini in the rally cars section.

Sunday’s event will host over twenty cars in the Porsche Club of Great Britain Speed Championship, with models including Boxster, 968, 924, 944, a host of 911s and a Cayman. Alongside these will be ten cars competing in the Pirelli Hill Climb champion for Ferrari cars, including Dino 308GT4, F355, F360 Spider and F430 Coupe.

A dozen cars will be taking part in the MSCC Techniques Speed Championship for Morgan cars and a further 18 TVR cars will be competing in the TVRCC Speed Championship.

With such a diverse entry list for both days and the culmination of several championships, the competition for final positions promises to be very fierce!

The action starts at 9.15am each day with competitors having two practice runs, followed by two timed competition runs, with full commentary, after lunch.

Tickets are available on the gate at £15.00, children under 16 are free. Access to the seated enclosures and paddock are also free.
