Offenbach, Germany – 20 October 2025 – Tested in the unforgiving environment of the Nürburgring, SENSING CORE, the sensorless tyre technology from Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. (SRI), has proven its ability to deliver predictive safety alerts and optimise performance under extreme motorsport conditions.

Deployed on the Falken Porsche 911 GT3 R during the full 2025 Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) season, SENSING CORE continuously monitored tyre wear, wheel load, road surface and pressure—all without any additional hardware. The system even detects loose wheel nuts, a feature that can significantly enhance vehicle safety on and off the track.

Unlike conventional tyre sensors, SENSING CORE uses the tyre itself as a sensor, sending real-time data to the cloud. This connectivity allows teams—and potentially future autonomous vehicle fleets—to respond proactively to changing track or road conditions.

During the season, Falken’s NLS team saw firsthand how SENSING CORE could influence race strategy. Alerts often came before conventional sensors flagged issues, enabling timely pit stops and preventing potential tyre damage. Even in the harshest conditions of the Nordschleife, the technology delivered reliable performance, underscoring its potential beyond motorsport.

“With SENSING CORE, we’re not just enhancing safety on the track; we’re laying the groundwork for safer, more efficient and more sustainable mobility across applications,” said a spokesperson for Sumitomo Rubber Industries. “Our experience with Falken Porsche 911 GT3 R demonstrates that this technology is ready for real-world impact.”

SENSING CORE represents a major step forward in tyre innovation, reinforcing Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ commitment to safety, sustainability and smart mobility solutions.
