Milton Keynes, 10th January 2024 – SEAT and CUPRA UK have achieved an extraordinary milestone in 2024, with the latest vehicle registration data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealing an exceptional sales performance. Together, the two brands registered a total of 67,180 vehicles, marking an impressive 16.2% year-on-year increase, far outpacing the UK’s overall automotive market growth of just 2.6%.
CUPRA Shines with Record Sales Growth
A standout achievement came from CUPRA UK, which registered a record-breaking 30,398 new vehicles in 2024, reflecting an 18.5% increase over 2023. This surge solidifies CUPRA’s reputation as one of the fastest-growing car brands in the UK, with a strong commitment to innovation and electrification. The brand’s continued success is driven by its sleek, performance-focused lineup, including the high-demand CUPRA Born, which continues to be a key contributor to the brand’s performance.
SEAT UK Shows Solid Growth
In the same year that SEAT UK celebrated the milestone of its 300,000th SEAT Leon, the brand demonstrated strong market appeal with 36,782 new car registrations in 2024. This result represents a solid 14.3% increase compared to the previous year, underscoring SEAT’s continued relevance in the UK automotive landscape.
Record Market Share for SEAT and CUPRA UK
As a result of these impressive sales figures, SEAT and CUPRA UK achieved a combined market share of 3.4% in 2024, a notable increase from 3.0% in 2023. This success is even more remarkable given the broader market’s challenges, including an 8% drop in private buyer sales over the same period. The brands also enjoyed a 14.4% increase in retail sales, demonstrating their resilience in a competitive and evolving market.

Electric Vehicle Sales Reach New Heights
CUPRA’s success in the electric vehicle (EV) market has been particularly noteworthy. In 2024, the brand saw Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) registrations grow by 38%, with 7,938 units registered, while Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) registrations rose by 20%, reaching a total of 8,407 units. CUPRA’s commitment to electrification is further evidenced by the fact that over 20,000 CUPRA BEVs are now on UK roads, with the award-winning CUPRA Born leading the charge.
The Road Ahead: Exciting New Models
The future looks bright for SEAT and CUPRA in the UK, with a range of new models set to launch in 2025. Marcus Gossen, Managing Director of SEAT CUPRA UK, commented: “2024 has been a groundbreaking year for both brands. With CUPRA’s continued growth and SEAT’s strong performance, we are confident in maintaining this momentum, particularly with the upcoming launches of the CUPRA Tavascan and CUPRA Terramar in the UK.”
Wayne Griffiths, CEO of SEAT and CUPRA, added: “Despite the challenges faced by the automotive industry, including economic instability and a reluctance to buy fully electric vehicles, these positive results encourage us to stay on course with our strategy. We are fully committed to electrification, but we need continued support from the government and stakeholders to secure the future of the electric vehicle market.”
As SEAT and CUPRA UK continue to evolve, their dedication to innovation, performance, and sustainability positions them as leaders in the fast-changing automotive market.
