In a significant stride towards sustainable automotive solutions, ROWE, the renowned premium oils and lubricants brand, has introduced its innovative range of 100% biosynthetic engine oils—ROWE SUNSPEED®—to the UK market. With sustainability at the forefront of automotive development, this launch provides workshops, race teams, and consumers with a highly sustainable alternative to traditional engine oils without sacrificing the high-performance standards associated with ROWE products.

A Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability
ROWE’s investment in eco-friendly manufacturing has culminated in the development of the SUNSPEED® range at its cutting-edge blending facility in Worms, Germany. The facility sets a new benchmark in sustainable production, with 60% of its energy requirements self-generated through photovoltaic solar panels. By using this renewable energy source, ROWE has established SUNSPEED® as one of the most environmentally conscious lubricants available on the market.

The key differentiator of ROWE SUNSPEED® lies in its biosynthetic base oils, which are completely free from fossil-based mineral oils. These oils utilize high-performance synthetic hydrocarbon compounds, derived entirely from biomass, ensuring both sustainability and top-tier engine protection. The use of these renewable raw materials marks a pivotal shift in the lubricant industry, proving that exceptional performance can coexist with environmentally responsible production.

Seamless Compatibility and Comprehensive Coverage
The SUNSPEED® range is designed to be versatile, offering broad coverage across popular viscosities and specifications, making it suitable for a wide array of vehicles. One of the most attractive features of the range is its full compatibility with conventional oils, allowing users to top off or refill engines without encountering any issues—a crucial benefit for workshops and consumers transitioning to more sustainable options.

Currently, the SUNSPEED® lineup features seven different products, with ROWE already looking towards an ambitious future where every product in its catalogue will have a biosynthetic equivalent. This includes specialized applications such as SUNSPEED® RACING MOTOR OIL SAE 10W-60, which has already garnered attention for its use in motorsport. The ability to maintain high performance in such demanding conditions further demonstrates the potential of biosynthetic oils in various automotive sectors.

Rowe Pioneers Sustainability In The Performance Lubricant Sector With Sunspeed Biosynthetic Oils

Paving the Way for Sustainable Combustion Engines
Jeremy Aston-Phillips, Director at MCOIL, ROWE’s UK distributor, highlighted the transformative nature of the SUNSPEED® oils:
“Since the start of our partnership with ROWE, we have been eagerly anticipating the launch of SUNSPEED® to the UK market. This is such an interesting innovation – a purely biosynthetic oil that delivers all the incredible performance benefits our customers expect of ROWE oils, but in a much more sustainable package. It is a groundbreaking development in the lubricant industry that will help keep cars on the road in the most sustainable way possible. There is now a future for internal combustion engines with the use of SUNSPEED® lubricants.”

This sentiment resonates deeply within the automotive community, particularly as the industry grapples with the challenge of reducing emissions while maintaining the viability of internal combustion engines. SUNSPEED® presents a tangible solution that not only helps to extend the lifespan of current vehicles but also reduces their environmental impact.

Packaging and Beyond: A Holistic Approach to Sustainability
ROWE’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its product formulations. All SUNSPEED® lubricant packaging is produced using a minimum of 50% recycled content, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to reducing plastic waste. This holistic approach ensures that every aspect of the product lifecycle—from production to packaging—aligns with ROWE’s environmental goals.

A Future Powered by Sustainable Innovation
The launch of ROWE SUNSPEED® represents a critical turning point in the performance lubricant sector. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, ROWE’s pioneering efforts in developing a biosynthetic range of engine oils demonstrate the potential for sustainable innovation without compromising on quality or performance. With the SUNSPEED® range now available in the UK, the road ahead for internal combustion engines looks significantly greener.

By focusing on renewable resources and eco-friendly manufacturing practices, ROWE is leading the way toward a future where high-performance automotive lubricants are not only efficient but also sustainable. Whether on the racetrack or in the workshop, SUNSPEED® is poised to set new standards for both performance and environmental responsibility.
