The launch of the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology marks a pivotal moment in automotive history, blending traditional robustness with cutting-edge electric innovation. This model, maintaining the iconic G-Class silhouette established in 1979, is designed with a sturdy ladder frame and equipped with a high-voltage 116 kWh lithium-ion battery, achieving an impressive range of up to 473 kilometers as per WLTP standards.
In addition to a low center of gravity, the battery unit is secured within a torsion-resistant casing protected by a carbon composite shield against physical impacts. The vehicle’s four electric motors, integrated near each wheel, produce a combined output of 432 kW and a peak torque of 1,164 Nm. This setup not only ensures responsive handling but also allows for advanced features like torque vectoring, which simulates the effect of differential locks.
Off-road capabilities are enhanced with innovative features such as G-TURN, G-STEERING, and a smart off-road crawl function, tailored for challenging terrains. The vehicle also introduces an off-road sound innovation, the G-ROAR, providing an immersive acoustic experience with multiple ‘event’ sounds.

Aerodynamic efficiency is boosted by design modifications including a raised bonnet, air curtains integrated into the rear wheel-arch flares, and a roof spoiler lip. The MBUX system, a hallmark of Mercedes-Benz, is standard, featuring a 12.3-inch touch display that enriches user interaction.
Safety is paramount, with advanced assistance systems supporting the driver in diverse conditions. At launch, the EDITION ONE model offers an exclusive array of features, including the luxurious Burmester® 3D surround sound system and the innovative “transparent bonnet” for enhanced visibility in off-road conditions.
With the new G 580, Mercedes-Benz not only upholds the rugged charm of the G-Class but also propels it into the future with electrified technology, setting new benchmarks for luxury off-road vehicles.
