Renault has charged into 2025 with remarkable recognition at the AutoEV Electric Car of the Year Awards, clinching four prestigious accolades that spotlight its innovation, sustainability, and design excellence. Following a stellar 2024—where Renault’s electric vehicle (EV) range averaged more than one award per week—the brand’s latest wins affirm its dominance in the electric mobility landscape.

Renault 5 E-Tech Electric: Double Winner

The Renault 5 E-Tech electric dazzled in two categories, securing the “Best Urban EV” title and the “Viewer’s Choice” award. Designed with urban drivers in mind, the Renault 5 stood out in the sub-£30,000 category by blending affordability with retro-inspired design and cutting-edge EV technology.

AutoEV’s Creative Director, Charlie Hutton, praised the Renault 5 for its universal appeal:

“The new Renault 5 shows how retro can be done right. Renault’s design team has made desirability a cornerstone of this vehicle, and it’s poised to become a style icon alongside competitors like the MINI Cooper and Fiat 500 for a new generation.”

Scenic E-Tech Electric: The Family Favorite

Adding to Renault’s accolades, the Scenic E-Tech electric was crowned “Best Mid-Sized Family EV.” This honor cements Renault’s understanding of family-oriented design, offering practicality, comfort, and an impressive all-electric range.

AutoEV’s Editorial Director, Bryan McMorran, highlighted the Scenic’s impact:

“Renault has redefined the family car. With the Scenic, they’ve achieved the perfect blend of utility and innovation. Alongside the Megane, the Renault 5, and the forthcoming Renault 4, the brand is setting the benchmark for electric vehicle design in Europe.”

Innovation Award: Sustainability in Action

Beyond individual vehicles, Renault’s broader commitment to sustainability earned the brand the coveted “Innovation Award.” Renault’s dedication to sustainable manufacturing—ensuring vehicles are designed, engineered, and produced in France—sets a high standard for environmental and economic responsibility.

McMorran commended Renault’s achievements:

“Renault’s manufacturing practices benefit the environment and local economies while reducing production costs. The Renault 5 incorporates nearly 20% recycled materials and boasts an impressive 88.6% recyclability. This level of dedication to sustainable innovation made them the clear winner of the Innovation Award.”

Leading the Charge: Renault’s Renaulution Strategy

Renault’s victories are a testament to its bold Renaulution strategy, aimed at making EVs desirable, accessible, and sustainable.

Adam Wood, Managing Director of Renault UK, reflected on the brand’s success:

“These awards validate our vision for the electric era. Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Scenic E-Tech electric are proof that Renault delivers class-leading technology with accessibility at its core.”

The Future of Renault EVs

The Renault 5 E-Tech electric starts at £22,995 OTR and is available in three trims—Evolution, Techno, and Iconic Five—with battery options offering ranges up to 253 miles.

Meanwhile, the Scenic E-Tech electric combines style with practicality, featuring advanced technology like Solarbay opacifying glass and a range of up to 379 miles. With two motor options and a spacious, family-friendly design, it sets a new standard for electric SUVs.

Renault’s accolades at the AutoEV Awards underscore its leadership in the EV revolution, proving that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand to create vehicles that are as practical as they are inspiring.
