Renault is set to redefine the city car with the all-new Twingo E-Tech Electric, a vehicle designed to combine affordability, sustainability, and urban-friendly innovation. Poised to launch in 2027, the latest iteration of the iconic Twingo injects a fresh dose of personality, practicality, and pioneering technology into a segment that has seen declining choices despite sustained demand.

A Revival of an Icon

The original Renault Twingo, launched in 1992, revolutionised the A-segment with its bold one-box design, modular interior, and playful personality. Over 4.1 million units sold across 25 countries cemented its status as a city car icon. Today, Renault is bringing Twingo back as an electric city car that remains true to its roots while embracing modern e-mobility. The Twingo E-Tech Electric is not just a car—it’s a companion for urban life, built to spark joy with every journey.

Affordable, Sustainable, and Smart

Renault has made affordability a central pillar of Twingo E-Tech Electric. With a starting price under £20,000, the car brings electric mobility into reach for more households. Its 27.5 kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, combined with a lightweight 60 kW motor, ensures a WLTP range of up to 163 miles, making it ideal for city driving.

Using LFP technology not only reduces reliance on critical metals like cobalt and nickel, but also cuts battery costs by around 20%, contributing to a lower purchase price without compromising performance. Energy-efficient motor tuning and aerodynamics further ensure running costs remain exceptionally low, allowing Twingo E-Tech Electric to compete directly with conventional ICE vehicles in its class.

Fast-Tracked Innovation: Leap 100

Twingo E-Tech Electric is the first model developed under Renault’s Leap 100 programme, a pioneering initiative to cut vehicle development times to just 100 weeks. By combining the expertise of Renault’s European and Chinese teams, and leveraging the AmpR Small platform, the car was designed, engineered, and brought to production at an unprecedented pace—half the usual investment and with significant efficiency gains across design, development, and industrialisation.

Built for Urban Life

Compact yet spacious, Twingo E-Tech Electric measures 3.79 metres long with a 2.49-metre wheelbase, giving it agility for city streets while delivering the interior room of a B-segment vehicle. Its sliding rear seats, modular boot space of over 1,000 litres with seats folded, and clever storage solutions ensure flexibility for daily urban use. A turning circle of just 9.87 metres makes U-turns and parking effortless.

Expressive Design, Cheerful Character

The Twingo’s personality is unmistakable. With arched daytime running lights, half-moon rear LEDs, and a subtle front grille smile, it projects a cheerful and mischievous vibe. Three new exterior colours—Absolute Red, Absolute Green, and Mango Yellow—enhance its street presence. The interior continues this theme with a cylindrical, colourful dashboard, dual OpenR screens, and playful graphics, all contributing to a sense of optimism and joy.

Advanced Electric Driving Experience

Designed for convenience and efficiency, the Twingo E-Tech Electric comes with One Pedal driving, multiple regenerative braking modes, and programmable interior preheating to maintain battery range in colder weather. Charging is simple, with a standard 6.6 kW AC charger, optional 11 kW AC, and 50 kW DC fast charging, allowing full charging in just 4 hours 15 minutes (AC) or 30 minutes (DC).

Bidirectional charging via V2L and V2G technology allows owners to power household appliances or feed electricity back to the grid, making Twingo E-Tech Electric not just a car, but a versatile energy resource.

Connected, Entertaining, and Safe

The car’s OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in offers navigation, voice control, and over 100 apps, a first for the A-segment. The Reno avatar provides a humanised interface for electric expertise, while a wide range of driver assistance systems—including hands-free parking, adaptive cruise, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert—ensures urban driving is safe and stress-free.

The Human First Programme adds another layer of safety, monitoring fatigue, speed, and driver alertness. Complemented by six airbags, structural battery protection, and advanced emergency technologies, Twingo E-Tech Electric sets new safety standards in its class.

A Fun and Practical Companion

Whether it’s the sliding rear seats for maximum cargo or playful interior touches like the e-pop shifter and colour-coordinated trims, the car’s design prioritises practicality without sacrificing fun. Advanced audio options, including a system tuned with Jean-Michel Jarre, further enhance the sensory experience.

Made in Europe, with Global Expertise

Twingo E-Tech Electric is produced at Renault’s Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia, combining local industrial excellence with global R&D input. The plant has undergone modernisation and upskilling initiatives, reflecting Renault’s commitment to sustainable, intelligent European production.

Reimagining the A-Segment

The Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric is more than a city car—it is a revolution in the A-segment, combining the soul of the original Twingo with cutting-edge electric technology, modular practicality, and a joyful personality. With its affordable pricing, sustainable engineering, and advanced urban-focused features, it is perfectly positioned to make electric mobility mainstream while keeping the spirit of fun alive on European streets.

Twingo E-Tech Electric proves that small cars can be big on innovation, personality, and practicality—a modern city car for a modern world.
