Renault has solidified its position at the forefront of electric light commercial vehicles, claiming two honours at the inaugural Van Reviewer Awards. The Renault Master E-Tech electric was crowned ‘Best Large Electric Van’, while the forthcoming Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric – the brand’s first-ever Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) – earned the ‘Best Van to Wait For’ accolade, highlighting both Renault’s current strengths and its exciting future in electrified commercial transport.
George Barrow, Editor of Van Reviewer, explained why the Master E-Tech stands out: “The Renault Master E-Tech combines genuine heavy-duty practicality with a sophisticated electric drivetrain. Its multiple sizes ensure ample storage, while payload remains competitive. It delivers the usability expected of a large van, alongside potential TCO savings and zero-emissions benefits. Big electric vans used to feel like a compromise – not anymore. The Master demonstrates the true capabilities of today’s EV technology, with proper range, rapid charging, and no loss of usability. It’s a real alternative to diesel, and a clear indicator of where large vans are heading.”
The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric, set to arrive later this year, was recognised for its forward-looking approach. “What makes the new Trafic E-Tech genuinely exciting,” Barrow said, “is that it has been conceived as a software-defined commercial vehicle from day one. Faster charging, smarter energy management, and continuous improvement via software updates make it a van worth waiting for.”
Adam Wood, Managing Director of Renault UK, commented: “These awards recognise Renault’s class-leading credentials, today and tomorrow. Master E-Tech continues to set the benchmark in the large van segment, while the new Trafic E-Tech signals the next step forward in electric van capability, combining advanced technology with the flexibility and usability that business users expect from Renault.”
Master E-Tech: Benchmark in Large Electric Vans
The Renault Master E-Tech electric impresses with practicality and efficiency. Offering load spaces from 11 to 20 cubic metres and enhanced payload capacity, the van also features a 105kW/300Nm electric motor paired with an 87kWh battery. Drivers can expect a WLTP range of up to 285 miles, with DC fast charging providing up to 142 miles of range in just 30 minutes. Prices start from £37,500 plus VAT after PiVG.
Trafic E-Tech: The Electric Van of the Future
The new Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric marks a significant step in Renault’s electric LCV evolution. Built on a purpose-designed all-electric platform, it optimises load space and manoeuvrability, with compact exterior dimensions, a tight turning circle, and practical load capacities of up to 5.8 m³. Featuring Ampere’s SDV architecture and 800V technology, the Trafic E-Tech supports ultra-rapid charging and WLTP ranges of up to approximately 279 miles. It is expected to arrive in the UK in late 2026, with multiple body styles and conversions tailored for professional users.
Renault’s dual recognition underscores its leadership in electric commercial vehicles, combining immediate usability with innovative solutions for the future. With Master E-Tech already setting the standard and Trafic E-Tech on the horizon, Renault is driving the next generation of zero-emission, high-performance light commercial vehicles.
