São José dos Pinhais, Brazil & Hangzhou, China – 3 November 2025
Renault Group and Geely Holding Group have deepened their strategic cooperation with the signing of definitive agreements under which Geely will acquire a 26.4% stake in Renault do Brasil. This move underscores both companies’ commitment to accelerating the development of zero and low-emission vehicles in Brazil, Latin America’s largest automotive market.
The partnership grants Geely access to Renault do Brasil’s industrial complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, while entrusting Renault’s established sales network with the distribution of Geely-branded vehicles. This collaboration enables both companies to expand their portfolios of technologically advanced, environmentally friendly vehicles for Brazilian consumers.
Industrial Synergy and Technological Collaboration
Under the agreement, Renault do Brasil will produce Geely Auto vehicles alongside Renault models at its Ayrton Senna plant. This co-production strategy not only enhances the industrial efficiency and competitiveness of the plant but also allows Renault to integrate Geely’s cutting-edge GEA new energy architecture into its vehicle lineup. As a result, both brands are poised to offer an expanded range of zero and low-emission vehicles tailored to Brazilian market needs.
Currently, Geely’s EX5 electric SUV is available in Brazil through dedicated dealerships operated by Renault, offering customers a seamless experience and access to innovative electric mobility solutions.
Commercial Growth and Market Expansion
From a commercial perspective, Renault do Brasil will manage the distribution of Geely’s portfolio of zero and low-emission vehicles. This collaboration opens significant opportunities in sales, financing, and aftersales services, strengthening both brands’ foothold in a market that accounted for over 40% of all Latin American vehicle registrations in the first half of 2025.
François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, emphasized the significance of this partnership:
“The partnership we are announcing today with Geely in Brazil marks a decisive step forward in our international strategy. It establishes an agile cooperation founded on industrial excellence and technological leadership. Once again, combining our strengths will make us more competitive, more innovative, and more responsive in a fast-evolving automotive market.”
Eric Li, Chairman of Geely Holding Group, highlighted the global benefits of the cooperation:
“Our continued cooperation with Renault in exploring new markets and new opportunities will make for a win-win scenario as both Renault and Geely are able to leverage technology scales on a global level to bring the best products to market.”
Strategic Impact in Latin America
This alliance reinforces Renault and Geely’s commitment to sustainable mobility and innovation in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive regions. By combining industrial capabilities, commercial networks, and technological expertise, both companies are positioned to accelerate the adoption of zero and low-emission vehicles, supporting Brazil’s transition to a greener and more efficient automotive future.
With this partnership, Renault and Geely are not just expanding their presence—they are redefining how global automotive leaders collaborate to deliver sustainable mobility solutions in key emerging markets.
