The Renault 5 E-Tech electric has triumphed in the ‘Small Car’ category at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2026, outshining every other new compact car on sale. Judged by a nationwide panel of more than 30 leading automotive journalists, the award marks a significant milestone for Renault’s all-electric supermini, which now progresses to the final shortlist for the coveted overall UK Car of the Year title.

Matt Robinson of Car Enthusiast summed it up: “This is how you do an ultra-desirable EV at an affordable level.
