Renault’s highly anticipated all-electric Renault 5 E-Tech continues to gain momentum, adding yet another award to its collection by winning the coveted ‘One To Watch’ category at the 2024 Business Car Awards. The fully-electric hatchback, which is set to hit UK showrooms in early 2025, has already generated significant buzz within the industry, praised for its blend of iconic design and advanced electric powertrain technology.
Business Car Magazine’s Editor, Martyn Collins, shared his admiration for the Renault 5, stating, “The Renault 5 is more than a replacement for the Zoe – it’s an evolution of an iconic Renault model, reimagined for the future.” Collins also highlighted the car’s competitive potential, especially against rivals like the Mini Cooper Electric, with two battery options, a 40kWh and a 52kWh pack, and a starting price expected to be under £25,000.

At the heart of the Renault 5 E-Tech’s appeal is its unique combination of nostalgia and innovation. Its design stays true to the heritage of the original Renault 5, while its powertrain and AmpR small car platform are undeniably cutting-edge. The car boasts a range of up to 248 miles on a single charge (pending WLTP certification), placing it at the forefront of its segment in terms of both style and performance.
Justin Costello, Renault Group’s Head of Fleet, expressed the brand’s excitement over the car’s early success. “The Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated electric vehicles, appealing to both retail and fleet customers alike. This latest award reflects its universal appeal and shows that it’s resonating across the market.”
Adding to the allure, Renault is offering keen customers the chance to secure their Renault 5 E-Tech early through an R-Pass, available for £150. This exclusive pass allows purchasers to place their orders 10 days ahead of the general public, ensuring early access to one of the most exciting new electric vehicles in recent years.
Faithful to its 2021 concept, the Renault 5 E-Tech is expected to not only deliver agility and driver engagement but also bring a sense of fun and practicality back to the small electric vehicle market. With its stylish design, impressive range, and cutting-edge features, it’s set to be a major player in the future of electric motoring when it officially launches in the UK in Q1 2025.
