Renault has confirmed that its latest Renault 5+ and Renault 4+ models are now eligible for the maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG) in the UK, making these iconic electric vehicles more accessible than ever. Customers can place orders immediately, with all models featuring the new 52kWh battery sourced from Renault Group’s Douai gigafactory in northern France.

Enhanced Renault 5+ Line-up

The updated Renault 5+ range includes the techno+, iconic five+, and Roland Garros+ versions, all equipped with the 52kWh battery and upgraded specifications. Prices start from £23,945 after the £3,750 ECG saving is applied to the techno+ version. The iconic five+ and Roland Garros+ are priced at £25,945 and £26,945, respectively, with the grant included.

Trim enhancements have been introduced in response to early customer feedback: techno+ models now feature a contrasting black roof, while the iconic five+ and Roland Garros+ versions come standard with a premium Harman Kardon® stereo system.

New Renault 4+ Range

The Renault 4+ line-up, also powered exclusively by the 52kWh battery, includes evolution+, techno+, and iconic+ variants. Prices after the grant start at £23,445 for evolution+, £25,945 for techno+, and £27,945 for iconic+. Douai Gigafactory and Sustainability Credentials

The ‘+’ designation on R5 and R4 models signifies the inclusion of batteries sourced from Renault’s Douai gigafactory. Operated in partnership with AESC and forming part of the Electri-city sustainable car production hub in northern France, the facility underpins Renault’s long-term commitment to Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI) standards. The UK Government’s decision to award the top-tier £3,750 ECG to these models reflects both Renault’s environmental accountability and the factory’s adherence to strict sustainability criteria.

Adam Wood, Managing Director of Renault Group UK, commented:
“The awarding of the top-tier £3,750 Electric Car Grant is great news for customers considering a switch to electric. Renault 5 and Renault 4 combine head-turning design with practical technology, and now, with the maximum grant applied, they are more accessible than ever. Our focus on made-in-Europe battery manufacturing and environmental responsibility has been recognised, and we expect this to boost the UK’s growing EV market.”
