The Road Safety Partnership South Africa (RSP-SA) is hosting their Annual General Meeting in just three days. Do not forget to register to join the meeting either in-person or virtually on Microsoft Teams. Essential information will be shared about the state of the organisation dedicated to road safety and also benefit from presentations from international and local speakers.
The RSP-SA says the selection of speakers will share perspectives with attendees that will assist in their own dedication to improving the state of South African roads. “The international presenters will include the CEO of the international GRSP organisation based in Geneva Switzerland, David Cliff, and Maria Segui-Gomez from the Institute of Barcelona.
“Both of their presentations will address issues of great relevance to improve road safety in South Africa. An essential way of doing this is by learning from the example of other countries that have been in similar situations before or from those that have successfully reduced their road fatalities. Another perspective that can assist in helping drivers understand the causes of crashes and their role in reducing this is understanding just how many crashes are as a direct result of human error.
Paired with this international perspective is one from South Africa. “While learning from examples set by other countries and understanding research on human error in crashes is essential, this cannot be applied in South Africa which is a country with its own challenges and circumstances on the roads. Executive Manager of Road Safety, Stakeholder Relations Management and Marketing, Thabiso Ndebele, from the Department of Transport will contribute this viewpoint.”
