Volvo Car South Africa (VCSA) has introduced the refreshed XC90, the brand’s flagship seven-seat SUV that continues to embody Scandinavian sophistication, safety, and sustainability. In Pure mode, the XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid offers over 70 km of electric range (WLTP), allowing most daily trips to be completed emissions-free. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, assisted by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, produces 183 kW and 350 N.m, while achieving an estimated 8.1 L/100 km. Both engines are paired with a refined eight-speed automatic transmission delivering power to all four wheels.
A Quieter, More Composed Ride
Comfort has always been central to the XC90’s appeal, and the latest model takes refinement even further. Adaptive dampers and air suspension continuously monitor the vehicle, road, and driver inputs hundreds of times per second, maintaining the ideal balance between stability and comfort.
The air suspension—now standard—can lower the SUV by 20 mm for easier access or better aerodynamics, or raise it by 40 mm for increased ground clearance. Additional sound insulation and meticulous cabin tuning deliver an even quieter ride, ideal for long-distance cruising.
