LAND ROVER AND RED BULL EXTREME SAILING TEAM ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP

Pretoria, South Africa – 20th March 2014: Land Rover is the Series Main Partner of the Extreme Sailing SeriesTM and is now delighted to announce their latest relationship in the sport of professional sailing, as the Official Team Partner and Vehicle Partner to Red Bull Extreme Sailing Team. Land Rover has a long tradition with sailing reaching as far back as 1988 as a sponsor of Cowes Week, the home of British yacht racing.
Red Bull Extreme Sailing Team is skippered by Austrian Roman Hagara. Roman and his long standing team mate and tactician Hans Peter Steinacher, have each won two Olympic gold medals in addition to multiple World, European and National Championship titles. Last season the team finished third overall, their first series podium; this season they have been described as the ones to watch as they chase their first Act win.
As the Official Vehicle Partner to Red Bull Extreme Sailing Team, Land Rover will provide the team with multiple vehicles to assist with transportation of the team and equipment; their branding will appear on team clothing and the jib sail.

Now in its seventh season, the Extreme Sailing Series is an award-winning and adrenaline-fueled global Stadium Racing series competed on Extreme 40 catamarans. The circuit, which Land Rover signed as a Series Main Partner in April 2013, puts the spectators into the heart of the battle and raises the bar in terms of both high level competition and sporting entertainment.
The Extreme 40 catamarans and Land Rovers are both designed with lightweight capabilities that make them dynamic and responsive, delivering world-class performance in their respective environments. The circuit is one of only five global sailing events that are endorsed by the International Sailing Federation, including the America’s Cup, the Volvo Ocean Race, the World Match Racing Tour and the PWA World Tour.
