Gqeberha, South Africa – Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf) and Algoa FM have celebrated a remarkable milestone with the 27th annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer, which drew an unprecedented 21,220 participants across the Eastern Cape, the Garden Route, and virtually. Despite rainy skies in Gqeberha, the spirit of solidarity and compassion shone through, as thousands came together to raise awareness and funds for cancer support initiatives.
Now firmly established as the largest charity walk of its kind in the region, the event once again demonstrated the power of community — a shared commitment to walking with and for those affected by cancer.
A Province United for a Cause
Participation surged across all regions, reflecting the growing reach and impact of the event.
- Gqeberha: 16,000 entrants
- East London: 1,300 entrants
- George: 1,000 entrants
- Virtual Walkers: 2,500 entrants
From city streets to digital platforms, the Big Walk for Cancer united individuals, families, schools, and businesses in one shared purpose: hope, awareness, and support for those battling the disease.

Isuzu Motors SA: Driving Social Impact
This year marked the eighth year of partnership between IMSAf and Algoa FM, and the third year since Isuzu elevated its role as presenting partner. The brand’s commitment extended far beyond sponsorship — it was personal. More than 2,500 Isuzu employees, retirees, and family members proudly joined the walk, embodying the company’s ethos of community upliftment and social responsibility.
Celestin Ndhlovu, Executive Vice President for Corporate Services at Isuzu Motors South Africa, underscored the significance of the event and the values it represents:
“We are exceptionally proud to be part of a movement that genuinely connects communities to a brighter future and provides tangible support to those affected by cancer,” said Ndhlovu. “At IMSAf, creating lasting social impact, improving health, well-being, and safety is paramount. The Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer perfectly aligns with our mission. We extend our warmest congratulations to the organisers for orchestrating such a monumental and successful event.”
Supporting the Heroes Behind the Cause
All funds raised from the 2025 Big Walk for Cancer will go towards three dedicated beneficiaries: Reach for Recovery, Siyavuka for Kids, and Project Flamingo. Each of these organisations plays a vital role in supporting cancer patients and their families through awareness, care, and treatment assistance — ensuring that every step taken on the day has a lasting impact in the months and years to come.
Looking Ahead
The 2025 edition not only broke records but also deepened its legacy as a beacon of hope and unity in the Eastern Cape. IMSAf and Algoa FM extended heartfelt gratitude to every participant, volunteer, and supporter who contributed to this year’s success — a testament to what can be achieved when a community walks together for change.
With momentum building year after year, the partners look forward to taking even greater strides in 2026 — one step, one story, and one shared cause at a time.
